Trey Parker Clarifies: No BOOK OF MORMON Movie For Now

Despite previous speculation, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that they currently have no plans to bring their Tony Award-winning musical to the big screen. Though Parker recently told Entertainment Weekly: 'Hopefully it will have a big run and a big tour and then we can do the movie in several years,' he now clarifies that it is something the pair is only considering for the future. He explains to The Hollywood Reporter: 'We did a stage show and it worked out way better than we ever thought, and we'd like it to be that for a while, you know, without contaminating it with a movie.'

Nikki M. James, Tony winner for her role in THE BOOK OF MORMON, is currently featured on O Magazine's Wow List, where she shared career advice, and how she made it to the Great White Way. On turning down a season at Stratford Shakespeare Festival, James revealed: 'There was no guarantee that another job was going to come, but my family needed me. That's when I realized there are more important things than being on a stage. A year later, I'm a Tony Award winner and my nephew is getting a new kidney!'

Performances began on Sunday, August 7th for James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES, directed by Eric Schaeffer, with choreography by Warren Carlyle and music direction by James Moore. The Broadway League announces more about the special event scheduled to take place on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 4:00pm in Duffy Square when the Broadway community will mark the tenth anniversary of 9/11. This event will encore the iconic performance that took place one decade ago when Broadway performers helped inspire New Yorkers to return to normalcy with a landmark outdoor performance.

HAIR: Then and Now will play on Thirteen Friday, August 19th at 1:00 AM. A celebration of Hair, the 'tribal love-rock musical' now a Tony Award-winning revival back on Broadway for the summer. Our guests include the show's composer Galt MacDermot and co-lyricist/librettist James Rado, who wrote the show's enduring rock score (with the late Gerome Ragni). Also on the program, actor Gavin Creel, who was nominated for a Tony for his portrayal of Claude, the role originally created in the Sixties by Rado. Creel, Rado and MacDermot perform the first act finale song 'Where Do I Go?' with MacDermot's son, Vince, on the bongos.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has broken the house record of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre for the 15th time. The show earned $1,289,947.50 in the 1,068-seat O'Neill for the week ending Sunday, August 14, 2011.
