WICKED Hosts Special Actors Fund Performance 6/28

The Broadway production of WICKED will perform an additional performance on Sunday, June 28th at 8pm to benefit The Actors Fund. All of the actors' salaries and all of ticket sales will be donated to The Actors Fund benefiting people in film, theater, television, music, opera, and dance.

The 23rd ANNUAL EASTER BONNET COMPETITION was a great success with $3,402,147 being raised this year by the 58 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS. Since it began in 1987, 23 editions of the Annual Easter Bonnet Competition have raised nearly $39 million for BC/EFA.

Shaiman's 'PROP 8-THE MUSICAL' Wins GLAAD Award Honors

At its annual awards ceremony GLAAD recognized Prop 8: The Musical, a video created for FunnyorDie.com in response to the passage of Proposition 8, a California ballot initiative which eliminated the right to marry for same-sex couples. Directed by Adam Shankman and written by Marc Shaiman, the video received over one million hits on its first day online. During the show, Miss Coco Peru and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles performed the song live onstage. Shankman accepted the award on behalf of the team of creators.

From Osage to Oz: Rondi Reed Joins WICKED March 17

Beginning performances Tuesday, March 17, Tony Award-winner RONDI REED will join the Broadway company of the hit musical WICKED in the role of Madame Morrible. Ms. Reed was the original Morrible in the Chicago production of WICKED and returned to the role in Chicago after winning the Tony Award for August: Osage County. She joins a cast which includes Nicole Parker as Elphaba, Alli Mauzey as Glinda, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Cristy Candler as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.
