THE TWINS,  a new Australian play starring Greg Fleet and Ian Darling, will have its world premiere season at The Studio, Holden Street Theatres for the 2021 Adelaide Fringe.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Nicole Kidman will portray comedy legend Lucille Ball in an upcoming biopic, setting off an internet firestorm over whether or not the Oscar-winning actress is the right choice for the role.

The American Cinematheque announced the line-up of stage and screen stars who will pay tribute to Spike Lee as he receives the 34th American Cinematheque Award in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, January 14.  Colleagues and collaborators including Angela Bassett, Ryan Coogler, Jodie Foster, Rosie Perez, and ‘Da 5 Bloods’.

The Prom is going international! The Broadway musical will come to the Netherlands in 2022. This is the first time the musical will be performed in a country outside of the U.S.

Waar de cultuursector het afgelopen jaar veel klappen heeft gekregen, wordt er toch ook weer naar de toekomst gekeken met nieuwe, grote producties. Zo zal de musical The Prom in september 2022 zijn Nederlandse première beleven. Momenteel is op Netflix een zeer succesvolle filmversie van The Prom te zien met onder anderen Meryl Streep, James Corden en Nicole Kidman.

The Prom's movie soundtrack is largely a well-made version of Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin’s score, although it occasionally seems to prioritize glitz and polish over the scrappy joys of its stage predecessor.

The pandemic has not stopped theatre. Instead, it opened up new avenues for theatrical material to be presented across the globe.

In short: don’t let the reviews discourage you from experiencing “The Prom”. I didn’t, and I think I’m a much happier person because of it. It might have even added a few years to my life.
