Hudson River Dance Festival Set for 6/15-16

Hudson River Park, one of the nation's longest waterfront parks and an urban oasis for New Yorkers and visitors from every corner of the world, will be the stunning natural setting for the second annual Hudson River Dance Festival, presented at Pier 63 in Hudson River Park. This free celebration of NYC's premier dance culture is a rare and unique opportunity for diverse audiences to experience some of the most talented and acclaimed dancers and ground-breaking dance compositions and performances in the world. The Festival takes place on Wednesday, June 15th, and Thursday, June 16th at 6:30 p.m.  The same program will be featured each evening.

New York City Children's Theater Celebrates 20th Anniversary Season

New York City Children's Theater kicked off its 20th anniversary with the sold out, critically acclaimed musical Wringer, which the New York Times called 'fun from beginning to end' with 'a clever script, catchy tunes, and fine performances.' The celebration continues with four productions in the 2016-17 season and the expansion of the company's membership program, NYCCT's latest effort in bringing affordable, high-quality theater to kids and their families.

The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance Presents 16th Annual OUT LIKE THAT! FESTIVAL This June

For the past 16 years, The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance has marked pride month by presenting the Bronx's only consistent gay pride celebration - The OUT LIKE THAT! Dances for a Variable Population Presents THE PHOENIX PROJECT, Today

 Celebrating dance and the beauty of age, Dances For a Variable Population (DVP), will present three performances of The Phoenix Project, a citywide public dance project that empowers older adults and reevaluates the aesthetics of aging. This world premiere collaboration will take place in three boroughs-Bronx, Queens and Harlem-over three Todays, June 4, 11 and 13. The Phoenix Project will make its Bronx debut at the New York Botanical Garden's award-winning and picturesque Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden on June 4. In the subsequent weekends, the piece will move with excerpts of the full work to Queens at the Queensbridge Riis Senior Center on June 11, and close their performances as part of the Summer on the Hudson Festival at the West Harlem Piers Park on June 18 as part of a Family Day event.

PUERTO RICAN MASTERS OF SALSA 2 Set for Lehman Center, Today

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present the return of the PUERTO RICAN MASTERS with Director Isidro Infante featuring three legends of salsa: Ismael Rivera Jr., Pedro Brull and Jose Mangual Jr., joined on stage by Hector Tricoche and Viti Ruiz of the new generation of salsa with a special appearance by Yolanda Rivera today, June 4th, 2016 at 8pm. The Puerto Rican Masters are a select group of the greatest stars of classic and contemporary salsa of the last forty years. The Orchestra, led by Maestro Isidro Infante, is composed of some of the best Puerto Rican musicians resident in New York City. Produced by Lehman Center and Leo Tizol.

The Assembly to Host Conversation Series in Conjunction with HOME/SICK

New York City theater collective The Assembly will present a curated conversation series to accompany the West Coast premiere of HOME/SICK, a theatrical re-imagining of the history of the Weather Underground. Select performances of The New York Times 'Critic's Pick' production, which is set for a limited, four-week engagement in a co-production with West L.A.'s Odyssey Theatre from June 11 through July 3, will be followed by discussions with former Weathermen, historians, activists and artists engaged with today's political struggles.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the arrival of the Hamptons' newest diva, with the world premiere of THE FORGOTTEN WOMAN, a new play by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Noah Himmelstein. The production starts tomorrow, May 31, and runs through June 19. There is a 'Pay What You Can' performance on May 31 with a limited amount of tickets available at the Box Office starting at 11 am that are based on a first-come, first-served basis.

Jazz pianist Aaron Diehl will join Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic for the 2016-17 season Opening Gala Concert, performing Gershwin's Concerto in F in his New York Philharmonic debut, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. The concert launches the New York Philharmonic's 175th anniversary season and Music Director Alan Gilbert's farewell season with a program honoring the Philharmonic's legacy of premiering important works, particularly music connected to New York City. As previously announced, the concert will also feature the New York Premiere of John Corigliano's Stomp for Orchestra and Dvo?ak's Symphony No. 9, From the New World.

NEC's Cutting Edge Playhouse 2016 Emerging Playwrights Competition Begins This June

Beginning in June 2016, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will deepen its commitment to discovery, development and presentation of superior theatre with four consecutive weekends of exciting and innovative productions showcasing up-and-coming Black playwrights. The Emerging Playwrights Competition is NEC's 2016 Pilot Project, marking NEC's return to the solid and impressive development and training format that established the company as an American theatre icon for over three decades.
