Four Nations Ensemble Sets 2017 Series at Merkin Hall

For the second year, the Four Nations Ensemble will make its home at Merkin Concert Hall to present three programs of chamber and vocal music by Bach and his contemporaries, from Handel to Couperin to Vivaldi. The programs, each on Monday evenings, will be held January 30, March 13, and May 8, 2017 at 8:00 PM.

Darian Dauchan's Announces Brobot Johnson Launch Party

Award winning actor, writer and musician, Darian Dauchan unveils his Sci Fi Hip Hop transmedia piece Brobot Johnson at the legendary Nuyorican Poet Cafe at 236 E. 3rd St., New York, NY 10009 on Wednesday, September 21st at 7pm. The Brobot Johnson Project exists in three parts as an album, a web series and a theatrical production. The story follows the adventures of Brobot Johnson, an android newly invented by a scientist named Professor Toussaint and his quest to learn the basic fundamentals of how to be a little more human one mundane but miraculous experience at a time.

Kinesis Project Dance Theatre Presents SECRETS AND SEAWALLS

Kinesis Project dance theatre, hosted by The Rockaway Artist Alliance and National Parks Service, presents a performance experience along the beach of Fort Tilden on September 18, 2016 and October 16, 2016 at 1pm and 4:30pm. Audiences will meet at Rockaway Artist Alliance Gallery to be brought to the performance, and should wear clothes for a fall day at the beach and shoes for walking. After the performance, audiences are welcome back to enjoy the art opening at the Rockaways Artist Alliance.

September's 'Midnight Moment' to Bring TANTRIS to Times Square

In partnership with the Metropolitan Opera and Gallery Met Shorts, Times Square Arts brings Elizabeth Peyton and Kristian Emdal's Tantris (Young Tristan) to Times Square's electronic billboards from 11:57 p.m. to midnight every night in September. This project is a part of Midnight Moment, a monthly presentation by The Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts. 

Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin Plays Solo Debut and Lang Lang in Beethoven

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in Beethoven's Symphony No. 5; Bartok's Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta; and Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre, for Trumpet and Orchestra, featuring Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin in his Philharmonic solo debut, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. Alan Gilbert and the Orchestra will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, with Lang Lang as soloist; Bartok's Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta; and Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre, with Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin as soloist, Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m.

POV's MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE Campaign Mobilizes Students, Families, & Educators

American Documentary | POV has launched the national Make All the Difference engagement campaign forAll the Difference, a documentary that spotlights the victories and struggles of young African-American men navigating their way through high school and college. The engagement campaign, featuring events in five cities, is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) as part of American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen, a public media initiative to help keep more students on the path to graduation, college and careers.

National Black Theatre Selects Playwrights for I AM SOUL Residency

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) has selected two Black playwrights for its I AM SOUL residency program, the nation's premier theatrical program dedicated solely to the development of Black playwrights, with a commitment to a workshop production of their new works.

Stunning One-Woman Play at Opens at FSC This Week!

Over Labor Day Weekend, the Franklin Stage Company is delighted to welcome back writer-actress Patricia Buckley with her solo play 'Evolution.' With a story that blends the lives of two sisters, their mother, and the unique evolution of whales, 'Evolution' is a deeply moving, often wildly funny tale of how human beings endure, evolve and move on. Buckley performed an earlier version of 'Evolution' to sold-out houses at FSC at the start of the 2015 season, and patrons have clamored ever since for its return.

New York Philharmonic Announces Free Insights at the Atrium Events

The New York Philharmonic has announced the 2016-17 season's Insights at the Atrium series, free events exploring themes of the Philharmonic's concert season through multimedia lectures, conversations, and panel discussions. Expanding to eight events this season, Insights at the Atrium has gained in popularity since its inception in 2011, helping thousands of audience members delve more deeply into the music, musicians, and ideas featured in the Philharmonic's season through a dynamic and accessible forum. All events are held at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center and begin at 7:30 p.m.

HONOR Musical Adapted from Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT Coming Up at Prospect Theater

Coming up soon! Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, and the National Asian Artists Project (NAAP), under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Baayork Lee and Co-Founder Steven Eng, will present a concert performance of the musical HONOR, with music and lyrics by Peter Mills, and book by Mills and Cara Reichel, adapted from William Shakespeare's As You Like It.

Free Event Feat. Black Women Artists, Simone Leigh, for Black Lives Matter

On Sunday, July 10, over one hundred black women artists gathered at the New Museum to form a collective force underground, known as Black Women Artists for Black Lives Matter (BWA for BLM). Simone Leigh, the New Museum's current artist-in-residence, whose exhibition 'The Waiting Room' is on view through September 18, convened this group in response to the continued inhumane institutionalized violence against black lives in the U.S.

Deborah Jowitt to Recieve Educational Visionary Lifetime Achievement Award at DANCE for DANCE

Mark DeGarmo Dance will honor dance writer DEBORAH JOWITT with the 2016 "Educational Visionary" Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate her many accomplishments.  Ms. Jowitt danced with notable names such as Jose Limon and Anna Sokolow, choreographed works shown in venues in both the United States and overseas, published articles in The New York Times, The Village Voice and Dance Magazine, among others, and has lectured, taught and conducted workshops at universities in the U.S. and abroad.
