Lighthouse Guild's Music School To Hold Annual PERFORM-A-THON

Music and dance students of all ages from Lighthouse Guild's Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School will perform in its annual perform-a-thon on Dec. 9 and 14th. The events will include dance and musical performances of a variety of styles. Funds raised will help keep tuition costs affordable for students who are visually impaired.

Trine Lise Nedreaas' PULSE Is December's 'Midnight Moment' in Times Square

A hula-hooper uses her body as an axis to spin glowing LED hoops. Her gravity-defying work to maintain the rhythm suggests the human effort required to keep our world from collapsing. Exhibited nightly through December 30th as Times Square prepares for New Year's Eve, the video may also evoke the perpetual turning of time.

American Lyric Theatre Presented A TOAST TO TEN YEARS On November 17, 2017

American Lyric Theater presented A Toast to Ten Years, a wine tasting recital in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the company's lauded Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 7pm at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South, NYC. Tickets were $125 ($50 tax-deductible) and $250 ($175 tax-deductible), and tables of four were available at $500 ($200 tax-deductible) and $1,000 ($700 tax-deductible).

Rochester Fringe To Host USAFF Conference In 2018

Organizers of the KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival announce today that it has been chosen to host the 2018 United States Association of Fringe Festivals (USAFF) annual conference from November 5 7 in Rochester, NY.

Kitchen Theatre Reveals Surprise Entertainment for its Upcoming Holiday Party

Kitchen Theatre Company has let the elf out of the bag!! The surprise entertainment at this year's Holiday Party and Fundraiser will be a special reading of David Sedaris's The SantaLand Diaries by Kitchen Theatre favorite actor Karl Gregory. The party will include festive eats and wonderful local wine and beer. It's happening for two nights only: December 13 & 14 at 7:00 PM.

Chen Dance Center presents NEWSTEPS, 12/7-9

Chen Dance Center presents newsteps, its semi-annual emerging choreographer's series. Since 1994, its theater has supported and presented artists developing innovative and risk-taking works through space and production grants. The series has received acclaim in The New York Times, Dance Magazine, The Village Voice, Downtown Express and The Villager.

Flamenco Vivo to present Annual Flamenco in the BOROS TOUR, 12/3-9

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is pleased to present its eighth annual Flamenco in the Boros tour, a series of free performances in neighborhoods across New York City. Navidad Flamenca draws inspiration from the rich holiday customs of the Spanish-speaking world from Argentina and Mexico to Colombia, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Through music, carols, and dance, this lively program highlights holiday traditions and reflects the influences of Hispanic culture throughout the Americas. Performances are December 3 9, and are free and open to the public.

Deadline Extended for FABnyc Storefront Artist Residency

FABnyc is pleased to announce our first residency program available to NYC based artists to develop their work on East 4th Street in the Lower East Side from January 1 March 31, 2018. The Residency is intended for one artist or collective, preferably with a strong connection to the LES. The residency should include at least one public engagement element. FABnyc is prepared to assist projects which seek to partner with a local cultural or community organization. We strongly encourage people of color and residents of the Lower East Side to apply.

DANCE NOW's 2018 ENCORE! Series presents New Work by Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott

DANCE NOW is thrilled to present an encore presentation of Places Please!, an evening-length duet created and performed by longtime collaborators Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott of KEIGWIN + COMPANY. Pittsburgh Opera brings a gripping, contemporary American opera to the CAPA School Theater in Jeremy Howard Beck's The Long Walk. With a libretto by Stephanie Fleischmann, The Long Walk is based on the book The Long Walk: A Story of War and the Life that Follows by Brian Castner.

CHRISTMAS IN EL BARRIO Returns with Music from Los Pleneros De La 21

More Than 78,000 Attend Sixth Rochester Fringe

The 2017 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (September 14-23) was our most successful Fringe yet, reports the non-profit board of directors that organizes this fast-growing, multi-genre arts festival. Attendance at more than 500 performances and events 175 of them free of charge is estimated* at more than 78,000 (a 15% increase over last year's 68,000).

Times Square Arts Announces New Year Season Programming Schedule

Times Square Arts, the public art program of the Times Square Alliance, presents the New Year Season, December 2017 February 2018. As part of the Alliance's commitment to showcasing the best of contemporary art, this season's lineup includes works from ArandaLasch + Marcelo Coelho, UNDERVOLT & CO and FX Harsono as well as partnerships with Design Trust for Public Space, Clocktower, Asia Society Museum, and Socrates Sculpture Park.
