The New York Public Library has announced its upcoming theater programs for this winter. Details below!

Cornish Dance Theater, the performing ensemble of the Dance Department at Cornish College of the Arts, will feature choreography by Iyun Ashani Harrison, Jose Limon, Vivian Little, Michele Miller, and Amy O'Neal at its Fall 2014 Concert, which takes place at the Cornish Playhouse on Nov. 21 and 22. Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.

The National Theater Institute includes a vibrant community of over 3,500 alumni. The many talents of these actors, writers, directors, and designers can be seen on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in films, television, London's West End, and at every major regional theater in the U.S. Actor, writer, director, Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother, Happythankyoumoreplease, Liberal Arts, The Graduate) is currently starring in Disgraced on Broadway. As I was reading The O'Neill: The Transformation of Modern American Theater by Jeffrey Sweet and walking through Launchpad of the American Theater: The O'Neill Since 1964, a 50th anniversary exhibit at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, it became clear to me that the ideas, principles, and people that have shaped the O'Neill and the National Theater Institute are still so very evident and become a part of every student who studies with NTI.

The Actors Fund presents a very special MUSICAL MONDAY with Michael Childers Presents: ' TRADITION, THE JEWISH LEGACY OF BROADWAY' on November 17, 2014. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 7 p.m.; performance at 8 p.m., followed by dessert reception with the performers.

The National Music Theater Institute (NMTI) students have just returned to campus from two weeks training in New York City; scroll down for photos from the visit! NMTI is the newest credit-earning, semester-long intensive from the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Utilizing the O'Neill's 50-year experience in training young theater artists and history of developing new musicals (including Nine, Avenue Q, In The Heights, [title of show], and Violet), NMTI offers broad-based training in all areas of musical theater: acting, singing, directing, writing, dance, composition, and choreography. In addition to the semester's rigorous curriculum-classes 14 hours a day, 7 days a week with emphasis on collaboration and the creation of original work- two weeks of the semester are spent learning in the epicenter of American music theater.

Lincoln Center, in association with Public Art Fund, is presenting a new digital commission, Solar Reserve (Tonopah, Nevada) 2014, by Irish artist John Gerrard, it was announced by Jed Bernstein, President, Lincoln Center.

The Velvet Oratorio, an original opera/theater piece commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia, will be presented in the grand ballroom at the current home of the Czech Center and the Czech Consulate: The Bohemian National Hall. The Velvet Oratorio is an evocative retelling of the Velvet Revolution through found text, choral music, and scenes inspired by Vaclav Havel's Van?k plays.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts has just announced a slew of theatrical events for October, which will feature King Lear, Fiddler on the Roof, and much more. Check out the full list below!

The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), as part of an initiative called Women Count, are pleased to present an analysis of women employed Off-Broadway in the four most recent theatrical seasons. A number of efforts to count, study, analyze and report on the status of women in theatre, in recent years, have focused on playwrights and directors. This new study looks at a broader range of professional roles with a specific focus on Off-Broadway productions.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 60th Anniversary Season on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 8pm with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, this premier company will perform 'The Soul of Flamenco,' a passionate new production that embodies the purity of traditional flamenco and classical Spanish dance.
