Rick McKay to Interview Donna Murphy at NYPL for the Performing Arts, 11/7

Edith Meiser Oral History will be presented on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 6pm at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Bruno Walter Auditorium. Two-time Tony Award winner, DONNA MURPHY, will be interviewed by producer/director RICK MCKAY, the award-winning filmmaker of 'Broadway: The Golden Age.' ADMISSION IS FREE! 'The Music of Jerry Herman' Plays Lincoln Center, 10/16

The Philhallmonic Society will perform a special concert, The Best of Times - The Music of Jerry Herman on Sunday, October 16 at 2:30 pm at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

BROADWAY RECALL: Peter Filichia's Musical MVPs

While Broadway fans know full well of Peter Filichia's prowess as a theatre columnist and critic, some may not be aware that he is one of those cliché-defying gents who can define both the infield fly rule and an 11 o'clock number. So in his terrific new book, Broadway Musical MVPs, he borrows a page from the sports section and picks a Most Valuable Player for the past 50 Broadway seasons.

Mimi Goese & Ben Neill Perform at Lincoln Center Atrium 11/17

Following critically acclaimed performances of their musical theater piece Persephone and the Ramseur Records release of the album Songs for Persephone, pulling together the music the duo composed for the multimedia work, Mimi Goese & Ben Neill are set to perform at Target Free® Thursdays at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium on November 17.

1st IRISH 2011 Hands out Top Prizes at Closing Party

Deirdre Kinahan's 'Bogboy' won three major awards, including best production, at the closing ceremonies of the fourth annual 1st Irish Festival, on Monday October 3, at Papillon Bistro & Bar, 22 East 54th Street. The haunting drama about a heroin addict's unlikely friendship with a reclusive farmer also scored for Sorcha Fox who won best actress and Jo Mangan who was named best director. But it was 'A Night with George,' a comedy from Belfast, that proved to be the audience darling, snapping up the award for Best Play in online voting. The award for Best Play was presented by the actor Gabriel Byrne, Ireland's cultural ambassador.

League of Professional Theatre Women Celebrates TURNING 30 at Duffy Square, 9/28

On Wednesday, September 28th the League of Professional Theatre Women will kick-off the fifteen-month celebration of their 30th Anniversary with a special event, TURNING 30, in Duffy Square at 11am. Co-hosted by Sirius/XM Radio's Julie James & Off-Broadway's Christine Pedi, the event will feature appearances by Emmy Award-winning actress/comedian Judy Gold (The Judy Show) & the Mamma Mia! 'Dynamos,' Carol Linnea Johnson, Corinne Melançon & Stacia Fernandez. Also attending will be some of LPTW 30th Anniversary Leading Ladies: Ruby Dee, Eve Ensler, Rosemary Harris, LaChanze, Elizabeth McCann, Estelle Parsons, Chita Rivera & Fran Weissler.

1st Irish 2011 Hits Midway Point

1st Irish 2011, the world's only all-Irish theatre festival, hits the midway point this weekend with all eight plays-in-competition running simultaneously, and the festival's panels and special events set to begin next week.

43rd Annual Theatre Library Association Book Awards Held

Theatre Library Association celebrates exceptional performing arts books and honors one of its outstanding members at the Lincoln Center ceremony being held on Friday, November 4! In addition to the award winners, the 2011 Freedley and Wall juries have designated one additional title in each category as a special jury prize winner.
