Photo Flash: Annaleigh Ashford Plays Birdland

Fresh from her Broadway run of Hair, Annaleigh Ashford returned to the Broadway at Birdland concert series with the musical magic of James Sampliner, on Monday, July 12. Annaleigh dazzled the packed house with popular classics by everyone from Doris Day to Janis Joplin. With an emphasis on the sounds of the 60's and 70's, Ashford and Sampliner performed 'It's Magic,' 'Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters,' 'Beautiful,' 'When I'm 64,' and many more. Kim Vasquez/Gray Lady Entertainment, Theatre Workshop of Nantucket (John Shea, Artistic Director), The Nantucket Historical Association, African Meeting House and The Nantucket Atheneum are pleased to present ANDRÉ DE SHIELDS in MINE EYES HAVE SEEN THE GLORY: FROM DOUGLASS TO DELIVERANCE inspired by Frederick Douglass, the great American abolitionist.

Jim Caruso is delighted to announce the return of ANNALEIGH ASHFORD to the stage of Birdland on Monday, July 12 at 7pm. This event is part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland concert series. Musical director and arranger for the show will be JAMES SAMPLINER.

[title of show] has music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and the book is by Hunter Bell. Diversionary's production will be helmed by James Vasquez, with musical direction by Tim McKnight. The cast of four features Tony Houck, Heather Paton, Karson St. John and Tom Zohar. [title of show] is an official event of San Diego LGBT Pride.

HAIRSPRAY Makes It s Pittsburgh Debut With Drew Lachey 7/20-8/1

Audiences will be whisked away to 1960s Baltimore when Pittsburgh CLO presents Hairspray July 20 - August 1 at the Benedum Center. Adapted for the stage from John Water's 1988 film, Hairspray ran on Broadway for over six years and has since become a toe-tapping hit all over the world.

VERITAS Comes To HERE Arts Center, Opens 8/20

Perkins 28 Productions presents 'Veritas' by Stan Richardson at HERE Arts Center Mainstage Theater, 145 6th Avenue (enter on Dominick, 1 blk south of Spring) Inspired by true events, 'Veritas' is the story of a group of young men at Harvard in 1920 whose promising futures fell prey to Harvard's 'Secret Court': a gay witch-hunt conducted by school administration to purge Harvard of all homosexuality.

El Portal Forum Presents HAVING IT ALMOST Staged Reading, 6/30

NYMF Withdraws Subsidiary Rights Request

Following is the full text of a letter that was was sent June 16 by Isaac Robert Hurwitz, Executive Director and Producer of the New York Musical theatre Festival to Ralph Sevush of the Dramatists Guild. This represents a shift in NYMF's policies and a reversal of NYMF's early June position on the same subject.
