New Musical GOD'S COUNTRY to Open 7/18 at NYMF

God's Country, an original musical by Erik Johnke (Book and Lyrics) and Elaine Chelton (Music) set in 19th Century New York City, will be presented at the 10th Annual New York Music Theatre Festival (NYMF) for five performances starting on Thursday, July 18, at 9:00 PM, at The Pershing Square Signature Center Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street. The musical is directed by Craig J. George and choreographed by Thomas-Sabella Mills. The Music Director is Bryan L. Wade.

VOLLEYGIRLS with Susan Blackwell Adds Two Additional Performances to NYMF Run

NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL (NYMF), MONICA RAYMUND of SISU THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS, and CAVE 76 PRODUCTIONS are pleased to announce that after being on sale for only ten days, the world premiere production of VOLLEYGIRLS starring [title of show]'s Susan Blackwell is the first 2013 NYMF show to sell-out, allowing them to add two more performances to accommodate audiences. The new performances will beTuesday, July 23 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 at 1:30 p.m. at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre (The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street, NY, NY 10036).

Joshua S. Roth Joins Cast of SLEEPING BEAUTY at Orlando Shakespeare Theater

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF welcomes Joshua S. Roth to the cast of the ongoing production of Sleeping Beauty. Complete with a brave prince, a beautiful princess, and a magical kiss, this quirky retelling of Sleeping Beauty will introduce the classic fairy tale to a new generation of kids and families. This World Premiere adaptation is written by Brandon Roberts and runs through July 28, 2013 in the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Orlando's Loch Haven Cultural Park.

BWW Interviews: Alex Wyse Talks WICKED, Boq, and His Career

WICKED, the musical that reminds us that so much happened before Dorothy dropped in OZ, is visiting Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts for the fourth time this summer. There is no denying that excitement is growing in Houston. Billboards for the show line our highways, commercials play on our TVs and radios, and everyone is buzzing about the much-loved musical. Recently, I chatted with Alex Wyse, who joined the cast as Boq on June 6, 2013. He took a few minutes out of his busy tour and performance schedule to chat with me about WICKED and his incredible career.

David Drake to Direct HOMO THE MUSICAL! at NYMF, Begin. 7/23; Full Cast Announced!

Drake joins librettist Lola Rock 'N' Rolla (writer/director of B-movies Dragzilla, Night of the Living Gay, I Was a Tranny Werewolf, and Nefertitty) and songwriter Gina Volpe (guitarist of the seminal NYC punk band The Lunachicks) to mount the new musical. Homo The Musical! opens at the PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street) on July 23, 2013.

Annette O'Toole & Jeff McCarthy to Lead Barrington Stage's SOUTHERN COMFORT, Begin. 7/19

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, presents the BSC Musical Theatre Lab (William Finn Artistic Producer) world premiere production of Southern Comfort, a new musical with book and lyrics by Dan Collins and music by Julianne Wick Davis, directed by Thomas Caruso (Associate Director of Broadway's Matilda).

TheatreWorks New Milford to Present New Musical EARNEST OR WHAT'S IN A NAME?, 7/12-8/3

On July 12, TheatreWorks New Milford will host the world premiere of the musical comedy EARNEST OR WHAT'S IN A NAME?, an original adaptation of Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest' in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. Book, Lyrics, and Music are by New Milfordresident, Leonard Diamond. The show opens at 8 p.m. for a four-week run.

Shakespeare Theatre to Stage 'Free For All' MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, 8/20-9/1

The Shakespeare Theatre Company's annual Free For All is a much-loved Washington tradition, offering free Shakespeare performances to the general public for the past 22 years. This year the beloved tradition launches the Company's 2013-2014 Season by reviving Much Ado About Nothing, initially presented during the 2011-2012 Season with original direction by Ethan McSweeny. Much Ado About Nothing will run at STC's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from August 20-September 1, 2013. Resident Assistant Director Jenny Lord will direct this delightful summer comedy for residents and visitors to D.C.

Paley Center To Present NYMF-Centric Theatre Series

Conveniently scheduled to occur during the weeks of this year's New York Musical Theatre Festival, The Paley Center For Media is presenting a series of theatrically-related programs and presentations throughout July featuring some particularly rarely-seen entities.

BOYS WILL BE BOYS Musical Revue Set for NYMF, 7/17-24

The boys are back in town! Next month the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) will present Boys Will Be Boys - An OUT-rageous Musical Revue. A hilarious musical comedy centered on a disastrous charity revue, the NYMF production runs from July 17-24 at The Pershing Square Signature Center Studio Theatre and is an updated version of the show that has played to critical acclaim around the country. (The Chicago Tribune called it 'a major hit!').

LEGACY FALLS with Kevin Spirtas Set for NYMF, 7/16-24

The New York Musical Theatre Festival presents LEGACY FALLS - the musical comedy where soap opera is a dirty business - from July 16 to 24, 2013. The show has Music & Lyrics by James Burn and Book by James Burn and Ian Poitier. The show is Directed and Choreographed by Ian Poitier with Music Direction byJonathan E. Gill. The show was originally presented at the New Players Theatre in London, UK in 2010. LEGACY FALLS is an Official Selection of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Lisa Brescia, Julia Mattison & More Set for #UntitledPopMusical Concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge Tonight

#UntitledPopMusical, the new musical conceived and written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye), with music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini (Smash) will have it's debut concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street, between Thompson and Sullivan), tonight, June 24th 2013 at 7pm. The concert will feature Julia Mattison (Godspell), Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Lisa Brescia (Wicked, Mama Mia), Andrew Kober (Hair) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked, Dogfight). Produced by the Wild Project, tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door or at www.lprnyc.com.
