BWW Review: Radvanovsky Completes Donizetti Hat Trick with Potent DEVEREUX at the Met

“The Tudor Trilogy” --putting together Donizetti's ANNA BOLENA, MARIA STUARDA and ROBERTO DEVEREUX--was fabricated to light Beverly Sills' fire as “America's Queen of Opera” at the old New York City Opera. This season, soprano Sondra Radvanovsky was charged with bringing the trio of operas to the Met for the first time and, in completing this hat trick, she proved herself opera royalty indeed.

Sibllies Drury's REALLY Adds Show at Abrons Arts Center

Abrons Arts Center and New York City Players' American Playwrights Division present REALLY, a new play written by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Richard Maxwell and designed by photographer Michael Schmelling.

Opera Santa Barbara to Present Puccini's SUOR ANGELICA and GIANNI SCHICCHI

Opera Santa Barbara's 22nd season will conclude in grand style with a pair of Giacomo Puccini's great one-act operas, the heart-warming Suor Angelica and the comic farce Gianni Schicchi, at the historic Granada Theatre on April 22 and 24. Performances will take place at 7:30 pm on Friday, April 22, and at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 24. Cabaret at Bridge Street Theatre to Continue with Eric Michael Gillett, 4/1

'Words & Music: The Songbook Series', a four-program line-up of stellar cabaret entertainment curated by Tom Andersen, kicks off in Catskill on April 1 with five-time MAC Award winner Eric Michael Gillet in 'Man About Town: The Wit and Wisdom of Noel Coward'. This stylish and sophisticated evening will be presented at 8:00pm in Bridge Street Theatre's intimate 'Speakeasy', located at 44 West Bridge Street in the Village of Catskill.

Nashville Opera Sets 100th Production

Nashville Opera presents Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall located at 505 Deaderick Street in Downtown Nashville: Thursday, April 7th at 7 PM and Saturday, April 9th at 8 PM. John Hoomes, Nashville Opera's Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director, directs the production with Maestro Dean Williamson conducting the Nashville Opera Orchestra. Amy Tate Williams, accompanist and chorusmaster, leads the 24-member Nashville Opera Ensemble. John Hoomes will present the popular Opera Insights discussion one-hour prior to curtain on the Orchestra Level and admission is free to all ticket holders.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA to Welcome Pair of Principals to Broadway Company

Performed by Elaine Davis, Tavish Miller and Kaneza Schaal, Really is a play about grief, intimacy and the difference between goodness and greatness seen through the lens of photography. A black woman takes pictures of her artist boyfriend's mom. As they jockey for a claim to him, they try to redefine themselves in the wake of his legacy.

Boston Lyric Opera to Present WERTHER, Today

Boston, MA – February 16, 2016 – Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) unleashes Jules Massenet's melodic, romantic French opera Werther from its late 18th Century German source material, bringing it to an early-20th-Century arrondissement outside Paris as part of BLO's French-inspired season. This new production of Werther opens March 11 for a five-performance run at Citi Performing Arts CenterSM Shubert Theatre in Boston.
