Huntington Theatre Co. Extends Ayad Akhtar's THE WHO AND THE WHAT

 The Huntington Theatre Company will present the provocative and moving drama The Who & the What by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ayad Akhtar (Disgraced) and directed by Huntington Associate Producer M. Bevin O'Gara (Milk Like Sugar, Becoming Cuba). Performances begin Friday, March 31 and by popular demand the production has been extended through May 7, 2017 at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. 

New Repertory Theatre Announces 2017-2018 Season: Resilience

Featuring nine productions, New Rep's 2017-2018 season includes Ideation, a dark satirical comedy and Boston-area premiere; Oleanna, David Mamet's groundbreaking drama, featuring Johnny Lee Davenport; Man of La Mancha, a revival of the Tony award-winning musical, featuring Maurice Emmanuel Parent; Unveiled, a one-woman show written and performed by Rohina Malik and co-produced with Stoneham Theatre; Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act, and engaging political drama by Athol Fugard; Lonely Planet, an evocative social drama by Steven Dietz; Ripe Frenzy, a site-specific drama and Boston-area premiere; The Bakelite Masterpiece, a riveting historical drama and Boston-area premiere; and Two Jews Walk into a War…, a hilarious existential comedy featuring Jeremiah Kissel.

RING TWICE FOR MIRANDA to Open This Sunday Off-Broadway

A friendly reminder that Ring Twice for Miranda, a new play written by Alan Hruska (Laugh It Up, Stare It Down; The Man on Her Mind; New House under Construction) and directed by Rick Lombardo (San Jose Rep Artistic Director from 2008-2014, The Snow Queen, Bill W. and Dr. Bob) will officially open this Sunday, February 12th at 6:30pm at New York City Center Stage II.

BWW Review: New Rep's Prophetic Portraits Series: BRECHT ON BRECHT

BRECHT ON BRECHT is the second in New Rep's series of Prophetic Portraits, following Johnny Lee Davenport's acclaimed portrayal in last month's THURGOOD. Brecht's art focuses on his experiences in Berlin, his flight from Nazism, and his life as an expatriate in America, where he faced accusation by the House Un-American Activities Committee. The 90-minute show is a revue of words and music, arranged by George Tabori, with direction by Jim Petosa and music direction by Matthew Stern.

New Repertory Theatre to Stage Month-Long Festival of New Works by Joshua Sobol

New Repertory Theatre in collaboration with Boston Center for American Performance, Boston University, Israeli Stage, and Greensboro Arts Alliance & Residency/Mirror Theater will present several of playwright Joshua Sobol's works during the month of March and April, as well as a conversation with Mr. Sobol interviewed by WBUR's ARTery Editor Ed Siegel on Sunday, March 26, 7:30pm at the Mosesian Center for the Arts.

Matthew Spangler's Multimedia Work ALBATROSS Makes NYC Premiere Tonight at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters will host the New York premiere of ALBATROSS by Matthew Spangler and Benjamin Evett and directed by Rick Lombardo. Produced by The Poets' Theatre, Inc. (Arlington, MA) and Michael Seiden, ALBATROSS begins performances on Thursday, January 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 12. Press opening is tonight, January 19 at 7:15 PM.

The Bostonian Society Welcomes Return of Site-Specific BLOOD ON THE SNOW

On March 6, 1770, four civilians lie dead, and eight more have been wounded by the King's soldiers. As tensions rise in the streets of Boston, Acting Governor Thomas Hutchinson faces an impossible choice. Blood on the Snow, by Patrick Gabridge, dramatizes the events immediately following the infamous Boston Massacre and is staged in the Council Chamber of the Old State House, the very room where the discussion took place nearly 250 years ago.
