THE HOBBIT Grosses Over $15 Million in IMAX Sales During Debut Weekend

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX:IMX) today announced that Peter Jackson 's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey grossed $15.1 million in 452 IMAX theatres worldwide, which is an all-time best performance for an IMAX film in December. The Warner Bros. Pictures film, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, grossed $10.1 million in 326 domestic IMAX theatres.
2013 Sundance Film Festival Adds Four Feature Films, Including El Mariachi as ‘From the Collection' Screening

Sundance Institute today announced the addition of four films to the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, including Magic Magic (Director: Sebastián Silva), Muscle Shoals (Director: Greg 'Freddy' Camalier) and Wrong Cops (Director: Quentin Dupieux) as well as El Mariachi (1993) for the From the Collection screening. The 2013 Festival will be January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) today announced that Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), the first of a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® 3D format. The film will be released in IMAX® internationally starting Dec. 12 and domestically beginning Dec. 14.

WaterTower Music has announced the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at all retailers today, December 11th. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. A Special Edition of the soundtrack featuring six exclusive bonus tracks, seven extended score cues, and deluxe liner notes will also be available today, December 11.

'Extra's' AJ Calloway was backstage with Michael Strahan for his Broadway debut in ELF. Michael has two roles in the show - he plays a cop and a bell-ringing Santa. Despite playing in front of hundreds of thousands of fans during his football career, Strahan told AJ that he had some pre-performance jitters before going out in front of the 1,200 person audience. Schooled stars Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Playwrights Horizon's Circle Mirror Transformation), Sarah Steele (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's Slowgirl), Harry Zittel (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's All-American) and Zoe Winters (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's 4000 Miles). ELF returns to Broadway this holiday season at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). Performances began on Friday, November 9, 2012. The production plays a limited engagement of 9 weeks for the holiday season through Sunday, January 6, 2013. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of a trilogy of films from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), will be released in the U.S. on December 14, 2012.
