2010 TONY RANDALL GRANT Awarded To PS 122, Pig Iron & More

The Tony Randall Theatrical Fund continues last year's mandate of providing operating support to assist outstanding theatre companies meet the challenges of the current economic climate. Grants were awarded to several deserving companies.

Pulse Ensemble Theatre Presents CHAOS THEORY 5/24-6/19

Alexa Kelly, Artistic Director of Pulse Ensemble Theatre, announced the company will present the World Premiere of this full length version of Anuval Pal's Indian-flavored, bittersweet comedy 'CHAOS THEORY' at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, from May 24th through June 19th.

TimeLine Theatre Company Finalizes 2010-11 Season

TimeLine Theatre Company, dedicated to presenting plays inspired by history that connect to today's social and political issues, has finalized its four-play 2010-11 season. The Chicago premiere of In Darfur by Winter Miller, directed by Nick Bowling, joins three previously released titles: The Chicago premiere of Frost/Nixon by Peter Morgan, the world premiere of Mastering the Art by William Brown and Doug Frew, and The Front Page by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur.

The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop announces its Spring Smoker, a semi-annual showcase for new songs from Workshop writers. Circus Theatricals Presents MORE LIES ABOUT JERZY 5/18-6/26

Dark Nights at The New Group Presents DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL

In 1999-2000, The New Group presented the premiere of Marc Wolf's solo documentary play, Another American: Asking and Telling, which won an Obie award and went on to tour the country. Ten years later, The New Group revisits this influential piece of theater in the context of the ongoing debate about the U.S. policy on LGBT citizens in the military.

Marin Ireland Receives 2010 Hart Alumni Award, 5/16

Today, April 29, The Hartt School of the University of Hartford in Connecticut announced that Tony Award Nominee, Marin Ireland is the recipient of the 2010 Hartt Alumni Award. The award will be conferred on Ms. Ireland, who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Hartt School in 2000, during Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 16, 2010.

Pride Films and Plays Presents Five Decades of Great Gay Theatre 5/9-6/13

Pride Films and Plays, a new not-for-profit, is proud to announce its inaugural activities as an organization. The first two events scheduled are Five Decades of Great Gay Theater, May 9 - June 13, a series of staged reading of great gay plays, Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 West Belmont*, and the Great Gay Screenplay Contest, held in conjunction with Chicago Filmmakers. The contest seeks new screenplays dealing with gay history, characters or themes and relevant to the world. The semi-finalists will be read this fall during Reeling: The Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival.
