EVIDENCE Dance Hosts 25th Anniversary at Harlem Stage & Father's Day Event

Harlem Stage, one of the country's top presenters, producers and supporters of works by artists of color, announces four performances by EVIDENCE, A Dance Company (Ronald K. Brown, founder and Artistic Director) in celebration of the company's 25th Anniversary.

2010-2011 Season to Feature Ngozi Paul and Raoul Bhaneja, Season Begins 9/18

Matthew Jocelyn, Artistic & General Director of Canadian Stage today announced casting for Fernando Krapp Wrote Me This Letter: An Attempt at the Truth and The cosmonaut's last message to the woman he once loved in the former Soviet Union, featured productions in the company's upcoming 2010-2011 season. Saint Carmen of The Main will be announced at a later date.

International Festival of Arts & Innovation at Chautauqua Inst. Ends 6/13

The 1st International Festival of Arts and Innovation will begin on June 11, 2010, at Chautauqua Institution in Western New York State in partnership with The Toronto International Film Festival (known as TIFF.365). Focusing on the best of Canadian Cinema, The Festival will feature the film premiere of CAIRO TIME, followed by a family film event featuring the award-winning ST. RALPH, the story of a 9th grader who outran everyone's expectations except his own in his bold quest to win the Boston Marathon. The Film Festival will also include selected short animated films from the 'Best of TIFF' and the 'TIFF Short Cuts' programs. All film screenings will be at the Chautauqua Cinema.

Arts World Financial Center Ends Exhibition of Wisdom: Portraits by Andrew Zuckerman, 5/23

Arts World Financial Center will end its exhibition of the U.S. premiere exhibit of 'Wisdom: Portraits by Andrew Zuckerman,' an extraordinary collection of photographs and interviews that capture the combined wisdom of legendary leaders including Nelson Mandela, Ted Kennedy, Willie Nelson, Billie Jean King, Clint Eastwood, Madeline Albright, Chuck Close, and others on May 23.

Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble Opens Pillow Festival 6/23-27

Jacob's Pillow Dance, home of America's longest-running international dance festival, has enjoyed a long history with Dance Theatre of Harlem. Founded to create opportunities for minority dancers at a time when they were not welcome in established classical companies, Dance Theatre of Harlem made its first professional appearances at the Pillow in 1970, the same year the company was launched.

Public's SPEAK THE TRUTH Benefit Features Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Vigo Mortensen et al.

Ariel Dorfman, Kerry Kennedy, the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, and The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting for the one-night-only benefit reading of Ariel Dorfman's play SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER: Voices From Beyond The Dark, adapted from Kerry Kennedy's book of the same name, on Monday, May 3 at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the reading will benefit the relief efforts of Habitat for Humanity in Chile.

Langston Hughes African American Film Fest Closes 4/25

The Seventh Annual Langston Hughes African American Film Festival will end its run April 25. The festival featured a full schedule of events including the Genie Award-winning film, 'Nurse.Fighter.Boy', appearances by filmmakers including Altrick Brown, Ava DuVernay, Charles Officer, and Morgan Stiff, the Seattle Premiere of 'Soundtrack for a Revolution' and 'Mississippi Damned', a Family Friday, and a filmmaking workshop. The film festival is expected to draw over 2,500 people who are passionate about creating and appreciating films for the Black community. The Festival is run by community volunteers under the Direction of Jacqueline Moscou, Langston Hughes' Artistic Director.
