From July 15-23, the Independent Drama Society will celebrate the end of its three-year tenure with THE GOOD DOCTOR, directed by Marketing Director Christine Toohey. This Neil Simon comedy, inspired by the short stories of Anton Chekhov, will be the final production of this young company.

Early Bird Dinner Theatre in Clearwater, Florida presents LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS, opening July 14th. There will be both a matinee and an evening show that day! The show continues through September 4th, 2011.

The Boca Raton Theatre Guild announced the plays it has selected for its 2011-2012 season: Sarah Jones' Bridge and Tunnel, Charles Busch's Tales of the Allergist's Wife, the musical Sweet Charity, and Paulette Dozier in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. The New York Times reveals today that director Michael Mayer, a consulting producer on the upcoming NBC series, Smash, has invited the creative team involved in crafting SMASH's workshop episodes to his own developmental lab of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever at the Vineyard. According to the report, attendees include 'Mr. Grant, a former writer and producer on the ABC series 'Brothers and Sisters' who is also a playwright and Tony-nominated actor ('Angels in America'); Ms. Reingold, also a playwright ('String Fever') who most recently wrote for HBO's 'In Treatment'; Jason Grote ('Civilization'); and Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg, a writing team who worked extensively on HBO's 'Sex and the City.' Head SMASH writer Teresa Rebeck will also be on hand.

For Friday evening and Sunday matinee performances between July 15th and August 25th, with the purchase of 1 Regular Priced Adult ticket, the younger family members get a discount on their ticket prices. Tickets for children 12 and younger will then be $20 (regularly $32) and 13 to 17 year olds will be $25 (regularly $42).

Roundabout Theatre Company announced that Kelly Bishop (A Chorus Line, original Broadway company) will assume the role of "Evangeline Harcourt" on Tuesday, August 9th.
