After years spent under copyright, Aldous Huxley's enduring classic Brave New World will come to life on a Canadian stage for the first time in decades. Produced by Litmus Theatre and Kabin and with the support of Theatre Passe Muraille (TPM), Brave New World previews September 27-28, opens September 29 and runs until October 16, 2016.

Shakespeare & Company presented Liz Duffy Adams' playful comedy OR, based on the real life of Britain's first female playwright, Aphra Behn, last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Directed by Alice Reagen and featuring Company actress, Tod Randolph, as Aphra, Allyn Burrows as King Charles and Nehassaiu deGannes as Nell Gwynne. The production runs through September 4th in the Tina Packer Playhouse and is staged in-the-round.

In a blackout we hear shouting. The front door of a minister's house is kicked opened. Enter a man dragging in a native woman wearing rags. He hands her off to the housekeeper. The housekeeper barks a few commands and forces her into a back room. The opening scene of Underground Railway Theatre's must see production of The Convert, Danai Gurira's three hour intoxicating drama about 19th century Africa post-colonialism, is spoken in the native language of Shona. Although Shona is not commonly spoken in America, it is clear what we just witnessed. Freedom. Or so we believe.

Target Margin Theater will dedicate its 24th season to the exploration of works created by the great American novelist, poet and playwright, Gertrude Stein. The 2015 Season begins in January 2015 with The TMT Stein Winter Lab at The Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn, and concludes in May 2015 with the world premiere of Composition…Master-Pieces…Identity, a new performance piece from Obie Award-winner David Greenspan, and The TMT Stein Spring Lab, that will run in tandem at The Connelly Theater at the Cornelia Connelly Center in Manhattan.
