Two years ago, on September 15, 2011, Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning 'critics' pick,' played its first performance at Paper Mill Playhouse. Ever since that very first night, Newsies fans, self-proclaimed 'fansies,' have been a cause for celebration, helping to propel the show from a limited regional theatre run to a limited Broadway engagement and then to extend into a record-breaking open-ended run. In honor of those dedicated fans, the show will celebrate 'NewsiesFan Week' September 15 - 21. Check out the cast's announcement video below!
The producers of ANNIE announced this evening that the show will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, January 5, 2014. Upon closing, the production, which opened on November 8, 2012 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street), will have played 487 performances and 38 previews.
Directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, with music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa, and a book by Grammy and BAFTA Award nominee John August, BIG FISH begins performances on Broadway tonight, Thursday, September 5, 2013 and will open Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). A limited number of student rush tickets will be available when the box office opens (10am Monday through Saturday) for that day's performance(s). Producers Kevin McCollum, Doug Morris and Berry Gordy have announced 'Makin' It Motown,' a nationwide open call casting search for African American singers for both the flagship Broadway production of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL and the upcoming national tour, with a rare opportunity to audition on stage at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, home of the smash hit musical, on Friday, September 13.
