BWW Review: BWW Review: Punchy Characters And Catchy Tunes Carry The Show In OLIVER!

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) has introduced the cast of Oliver! This classic comes to life on the stage from April 5 - 17, 2016 in Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Raleigh, NC- North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional regional theatre producing Broadway musical revivals, is thrilled to announce a strong mix of Broadway and regional talent in the casting of Into The Woods, playing tonight, October 20, through October 25, 2015 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. 

North Carolina Theatre is proud to announce the newest cast member joining their anticipated revival of Into the Woods. Twan Baker will perform as the baby to the "Baker" and his wife at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, October 20-25, 2015.

The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) just welcomed Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth as host for the seventh annual BROADWAY SALUTES event Tuesday night, September 29, 2015. The event included special guest performances by Nikki M James, Nathaniel Hackmann, Sydney Lucas and Jake Lucas who each performed a song from three shows that opened the year the BROADWAY SALUTES honorees entered the business. In this industry-wide public celebration, theatre professionals received special recognition for having worked 25, 35 and 50+ years on Broadway for their valuable contributions to the business.

Each year The MUNY makes it a point to present a full-blown musical that's aimed at the younger set. This year it's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which was given the patented Disney treatment when adapted for the stage from their own 1991 animated film. So, it retains plenty of the elements that made the film so successful, while also featuring some additional songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, some of which were cut from the movie. There's no denying the appeal of this material, and it's a perfect way to introduce kids to the wonders of live theatre in such a lovely setting, and on such a grand scale.
