Tickets to BEACH BLANKET BABYLON's Holiday Extravaganza On Sale 9/8

Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon producer Jo Schuman Silver announced today that tickets for the show's Holiday Extravaganza will go on sale Monday, September 8, at 10 a.m. Beach Blanket Babylon welcomes the season with special performances beginning Wednesday, November 19, 2014 and continues through New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31st. Packed with hilarious spoofs of pop culture & political characters, the annual tradition also features a chorus line of tap dancing Christmas trees, special parodies of traditional Christmas carols and the gigantic Yuletide hat. Vice President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, President pro tempore of the Senate Patrick Leahy, House Majority Leader Elect Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, actress Debbie Allen, members of Congress and other distinguished guests attended the Ford's Theatre Annual Gala the evening of Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW). The gala performance was followed by a seated dinner at the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum (750 Ninth Street NW). The evening included the presentation of the Ford's Theatre Lincoln Medal to actor James Earl Jones and the U.S. House of Representatives' longest-serving member, The Honorable John D. Dingell. The award was given in recognition of their extraordinary character, service, accomplishments and work reflecting Lincoln's legacy of humanity, wisdom, eloquence and vision.

Cal Shakes to Celebrate 40th Anniversary with RAISE THE ROOF Fundraiser at Four Seasons San Francisco, 3/15

California Shakespeare Theater today announced details for the company's 19th annual fundraising bash, Raise the Roof, to be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 6pm at the Four Seasons San Francisco. The evening, celebrating the company's 40th anniversary and featuring honorary chairperson Annette Bening, who appeared in several Cal Shakes productions in the early years of the company, will support Cal Shakes' work on stage, in classrooms, and with Bay Area communities.

A BROADWAY CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to MetroStage, Now thru 12/22

Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin has announced A Broadway Christmas Carol, created by Kathy Feininger, will return to MetroStage for a fourth season for the holidays tonight, Nov. 21-Dec. 22. It has been produced the past three seasons and has become a holiday tradition here at MetroStage. Prior to 2009, it had played to sold out houses at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland, for seven consecutive years ending in 2004.
