TV: Behind the Scenes of THE TOXIC AVENGER with Constantine Maroulis, Joe DiPeitro, David Bryan and More!

The Alley Theater's production of The Toxic Avenger, starring American Idol and Rock of Ages alum Constantine Maroulis alongside Nancy Opel, begins previews on January 13, in anticipation of a January 20 opening night. With books & lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music & lyrics by David Bryan, based on the film The Toxic Avenger by Lloyd Kaufman, and directed by John Rando, the production will run through Sunday, February 12, 2012. Photo Flash: First Look at Constantine Maroulis, Nancy Opel & More in Rehearsal for Alley Theater's THE TOXIC AVENGER!

The Alley Theater's production of The Toxic Avenger, starring American Idol and Rock of Ages alum Constantine Maroulis and Nancy Opel, begins previews on January 13, in anticipation of a January 20 opening night. With books & lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music & lyrics by David Bryan, based on the film The Toxic Avenger by Lloyd Kaufman, and directed by John Rando, the production will run through Sunday, February 12, 2012. Rehearsal shots have been released and BroadwayWorld brings you a first look below!

Cass Morgan Returns to MEMPHIS Tonight

The 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS previously announced that original Broadway cast member, and Outer Critics Circle Nominee, Cass Morgan will return to the company as "Mama." Morgan will begin performances tonight, December 15th. Nancy Opel played her final performance on Sunday, December 11th, before taking a leave of absence to appear in David Bryan and Joe DiPietro's The Toxic Avenger at The Alley Theater in Houston, TX. Opel is expected to return to her role in MEMPHIS in February, 2012.

Cass Morgan Returns to MEMPHIS 12/15

The 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS announced today that original Broadway cast member, and Outer Critics Circle Nominee, Cass Morgan will return to the company as "Mama."

Maroulis, Davi, Jarvis to Star in Revised Broadway-Hopeful THE TOXIC AVENGER in Houston

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced the cast and creative team for their production of The Toxic Avenger. In a new production, which features several new songs and revised book by the Tony Award-winning creative team of Memphis, Bon Jovi founding member and keyboardist David Bryan and Joe DiPietro, Tony-nominated Constantine Maroulis takes center stage as the righteous superhero in the title role. John Rando (Tony Winner for Urinetown) returns to the Alley to reinvent his hilarious 2009 Off-Broadway staging of The Toxic Avenger following his smashing Alley productions of The Man Who Came to Dinner, Mrs. Mannerly and Be My Baby.

Cast of MEMPHIS to Perform 'Radio' at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Today

Adam Pascal and the cast of Broadway's 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS will perform 'Radio' on THE THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE ON CBS, Thursday, November 24th. The parade is a Thanksgiving Day tradition that will broadcast on the CBS Television Network 9am-Noon, live ET; 8-11am, live CT; 7-10am, live MT; 9am-Noon, delayed PT.

Happy Birthday Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS welcomed Tony Nominee Adam Pascal as 'Huey Calhoun,' beginning performances on Tuesday, October 25th and the show celebrated Pascal's joining the show AND the actor's birthday backstage (with a little help from Crumbs Bake Shop). We were there to join in the tasty fun!

Yesterday, October 19, MEMPHIS celebrated its second anniversary on Broadway. On hand to celebrate at Glass House Tavern were MEMPHIS creators David Bryan and Joe DiPietro along with their Tony winning cast including Chad Kimball, Montego Glover, Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway, James Monroe Iglehart, John Jellison, and Nancy Opel.

Kristin Chenoweth Leads RISE Reading as Evangelist Tammy Faye Bakker

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post today that Kristin Chenoweth led a private industry reading of Rise last week about Christian fundamentalist Tammy Faye Bakker. Bakker and her husband, Jim, are best known for starting the evengelical television program, 'The PTL Club,' in the 1970s.
