BANG ON A CAN’s 11th Annual Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA Begins 7/11

From Wednesday, July 11 through Saturday, July 28, MASS MoCA (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA) explodes with the sounds of the 11th Annual Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA, part of Bang on a Can's 25th birthday year. The Festival is dedicated entirely to today's most exciting, fresh, and innovative new music and includes public performances, recitals, and lectures.

COT Presents OPERA FOR ALL in Schools, Now thru 6/8

Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) Opera For All, an education program that brings opera to the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders of three Chicago Public Schools - Dewitt Clinton Elementary, Lionel Hampton Fine & Performing Arts School, and Reilly Elementary - is finishing its 12th year with three fun operas written and performed by the students themselves!

THIS IS JUST TO SAY: LIVE ART II Comes to Symphony Space, 6/16

This is Just to Say: Live Art II, produced and directed by composer Inhyun Kim, features works by Ms. Kim, as well as composers Judith Ring, Nomi Epstein, and Sonia Megias, and performances by soprano Megan Schubert and pianist David Kalhous. This interdisciplinary concert, which also features work by Naho Taruishi, video artist and dancers/choreographers Coco Karol and Luke Gutgsell, takes place at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia theater at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, New York City on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Firecat Projects and 16th Street Theater to Present NICKEL HISTORY at the Steppenwolf Garage, 7/19-8/5

Firecat Projects and 16th Street Theater present Nickel History: The Nation of Heat, written and performed by Tony Fitzpatrick with Stan Klein July 19-August 5 in Steppenwolf's Garage Theatre, 1624 N. Halsted with a press opening of Thursday, July 19 at 8 p.m. Adapted and directed by 16th Street artistic director Ann Filmer, Nickel History features film and video art by Kristin Reeves, music by John Rice and Anna Fermin. Singer-songwriter Joe Pug is a guest performer on opening night.

Union City Museum Presents IN TRANSIT: Parallel Time Tonight, 5/17

The William V. Musto Cultural Center presents the Opening Gala of Frank Guiller and Juan-Si Gonzalez art exhibit In Transit: Parallel Time with a special musical presentation of 'Haunted" The Show, tonight, May 17, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the William V. Musto Cultural Center, 420 - 15th Street in Union City. Refreshments will be served and admission is free.

Jonah Bokaer's CURTAIN Comes to France's Avignon Festival, 7/20; MA's Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, 8/1

Jonah Bokaer, who has been making artistic waves on the international dance circuit since he began choreographing almost ten years ago, will be seen both close-up and afar in these coming months: outdoors at the Avignon Festival in France (July 20-22, 24-26) and indoors at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA (August 1-5) when he and Bolshoi Ballet star David Hallberg perform together in the world premiere of Bokaer's "CURTAIN."

Tyne Daly, Brandon Victor Dixon, Amy Spanger and More Join Williamstown Theatre Festival Casts

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced additional casting for the 2012 Summer Season. A host of Williamstown Theatre Fesival veterans and talented newcomers including Becky Ann Baker, Marylouise Burke, Tyne Daly, Brandon Victor Dixon, Alison Fraser, Heather Lind, Amy Spanger, Jeremy Strong, Lili Taylor and many more, will take the stage during the Festival's 58th Season.

Chicago Dancing Festival Announces 2012 Schedule

The Chicago Dancing Festival, co-produced by internationally renowned choreographer and Chicago native Lar Lubovitch and highly esteemed Chicago dancer Jay Franke, today announced the program for its sixth season of free dance performances and events, set to take place August 20-25, 2012.
