Hauser & Wirth Enters Partnership with Estate of Philip Guston to Display his Work

Hauser & Wirth and the Estate of Philip Guston are pleased to announce jointly that the gallery now represents the Estate exclusively worldwide, following the closure of the McKee Gallery earlier this year. David and Renée McKee began working with Guston in 1974, and will continue to work closely with Hauser & Wirth, the artist's daughter Musa Mayer and the Estate in an advisory capacity. 

Staged Readings of LOVES OF PICASSO Set for MOMA's Celeste Bartos Theater, 10/9

Veteran producer Pat Addiss (Buyer and Cellar, Love Letters) and Georganne Aldrich Heller (Howie the Rookie-Bam, Silent, Forgotten) president of Irish Theatre & Film Production (georgannealdricheller.com) have announced that they will join forces in presenting two invitation only, special staged readings of 'Loves of Picasso' written and directed by Terry D' Alfonso. The two readings will be held on October 9th at 2PM and 5pm at MOMA to coincide with museum's opening of the largest ever Picasso sculpture exhibit that same week. The script is based on the private life of Picasso, the women he loved and will include video installations conceived by Terry D' Alfonso.

Redmoon to Celebrate Halloween with BONESHAKER AND SKELEBRATION, 10/30-31

Redmoon, Chicago's leading model for using spectacle and art as a means to social change will host two Halloween-themed spectaculars: the new teen-focused Skelebration, Friday, Oct. 30 from 7 - 11 p.m. and the 6th annual Boneshaker, Saturday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. - Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 a.m. at the company's massive 57,000 square-foot Pilsen headquarters, 2120 S. Jefferson St. Tickets for Skelebration are $10 in advance or $15 at the door for ages 15-20 years. Early Bird Boneshaker tickets are available for $75 through October 16. Boneshaker tickets purchased after October 16 are $100. Boneshaker tickets include snacks, desserts, and an open bar. Tickets for Skelebration and Boneshaker are available in advance online at redmoon.org/box-office or by calling 312-850-8440 ext. 123. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Tickets will be available at the door, subject to availability.

Seven World Premieres and More Highlight New York City Ballet's 2015-16 Season

New York City Ballet will open its 2015-16 Season at Lincoln Center tonight, September 22 with eight performances of Peter Martins' production of Tschaikovsky's Swan Lake, through Tuesday, September 29, to launch the Company's 2015 Fall Season, which will continue for four weeks through Sunday, October 18.

Maccarone Gallery Opens Alex Hubbard's BASIC PERVERSIONS Exhibit Today

LOS ANGELES…Beginning today, September 19, 2015, Maccarone will present “Basic Perversions,” an exhibition of new paintings by Alex Hubbard. Comprising over a dozen works in pigmented urethane, resin, and fiberglass, this exhibition inaugurates the gallery's new 50,000-square-foot West Coast complex at 330 South Mission Road in the Downtown L.A. Arts District. Hubbard's third solo exhibition with Maccarone, “Basic Perversions” will remain on view through December 20, 2015.

Chicago Dancemakers Forum Accepting RFPs for Upcoming Chicago Dance Lab

The dance lab is part of the Regional Dance Development Initiative (RDDI) of   NEFA's National Dance Project (NDP). The RDDI provides professional growth for dance artists in regions across the U.S. through a 10-day dance lab designed to clarify goals, develop strategies, hone public presentation skills, and strengthen partnerships between artists and presenters. NEFA and CDF will engage a cohort of national dance leaders to work with Chicago dance artists in an immersive curriculum. Since 2004, dance labs have been held in the Pacific Northwest, the San Francisco Bay Area, New England, and Minnesota.

True Story of THE LILLIPUT TROUPE to Premiere Off-Broadway This Fall

Jack Eidson & Sally Lindel present the World Premiere of THE LILLIPUT TROUPE, a new play with music by Gaby FeBland. Directed by Alex Benjamin, performances begin November 6 at Off-Broadway's Chernuchin Theatre at the American Theatre of Actors.

Mori Art Museum to Display TAKASHI MURAKAMI: THE 500 ARHATS Exhibit, 10/31

The Mori Art Museum is pleased to present "Takashi Murakami: The 500 Arhats" from Saturday, October 31, 2015, through Sunday, March 6, 2016, marking the first large-scale Murakami exhibition in Japan in 14 years. Takashi Murakami is known as one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary artists working today. Hauser & Wirth to Display Debut US Exhibition from Mike Kelley, Today

New York…Beginning September 10, 2015, Hauser & Wirth is proud to present 'Mike Kelley', the gallery's first U.S. exhibition devoted to one of the most ambitious and influential artists of our time. Organized in collaboration with the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts, the exhibition is the first in New York to focus exclusively on one of the most significant of Kelley's later series, Kandors. These visually opulent, technically ambitious sculptures combine with videos and a sprawling installation never before exhibited in the United States, as the late Los Angeles artist reworks the imagery and mythology of the popular American comics book hero Superman into an extraordinary opus of nurture and loss, destruction, mourning and – possibly - redemption.

Anita Glesta's WATERSHED to Address Climate Change at London's Totally Thames Festival, Sept 22 - 27

CYNTHIA-REEVES announces the international premiere of New York-based artist, Anita Glesta's WATERSHED video installation at London's annual Totally Thames Festival, Tuesday, September 22 - Sunday, September 27, 2015. A public art project addressing climate change through large-scale imagery and sounds of ocean life and flooding waters, WATERSHED acts as a moving information 'billboard' about global warming that will be projected onto the face of the National Theatre [Lyttelton Flytower], facing the Thames River itself.

Author Souris Hong to Sign Latest Book, OUTSIDE THE LINES TOO, in LA, 10/3

Outside the Lines Too is a hip and imaginative coloring book featuring original line drawings from more than 100 creative masterminds, including animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, and street artists. JaeHyo Lee's SLANTED BENCH in CRAFTED: OBJECTS IN FLUX Featured at Cynthia-Reeves Gallery, Thru 1/10

CYNTHIA-REEVES is pleased to announce the inclusion of JaeHyo Lee's SLANTED BENCH in 'CRAFTED: Objects in Flux', an international overview of thirty contemporary artists expanding the conversation and discipline of conceptual practices and techniques of craft making at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, through January 10, 2016.  The exhibition is the first of its kind within an encyclopedic museum to explore the broad possibilities of contemporary artistic engagement with craft.  Curated by Emily Zilber, the Ronald C. and Anita L. Wornick Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts, the exhibition opened on August 24 and aims to 'demonstrate vitality, viability and variety inherent in choosing craft as a foundation for contemporary artistic practice,' the curator writes in the exhibition's catalogue.

Andrea Rosen Gallery to Display Alina Szapocznikow Exhibit, 10/30
