Hillbarn Theatre Presents THE 39 STEPS, Now thru 11/2

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, follows up on the success of their critically acclaimed 2014-15 season opener Funny Girl with one of Broadway's most entertaining shows, The 39 Steps. Equal parts Hitchcock masterpiece and thrilling spy novel, The 39 Steps is a high-speed comedy smash hit that follows Patrick Barlow and John Buchan's iconic hero Richard Hannay as he finds himself embroiled in a riotous chase dodging police and charming ladies across England and Scotland. Winner of two Tony Awards and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The 39 Steps blends virtuoso performances with wildly inventive stagecraft amounting to an unforgettable evening in the theatre. The 39 Steps will run today, October 16 - November 2, 2014 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City).

ELMER GANTRY is a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. Signature Theatre's presentation will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre now through November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006. Pharrell, Adam, Blake, Christina to Return for Next Cycle of THE VOICE

Pharrell Williams, who is receiving sensational reviews in his inaugural season of 'The Voice,' will be returning to the eighth cycle of NBC's Emmy Award-winning series with fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, as previously announced. The eighth cycle will begin in early 2015.

Chichester's NEVILLE'S ISLAND Begins Tonight in the West End

Jamie Hendry Productions presents the West End transfer of Chichester Festival Theatre's critically-acclaimed production of Neville's Island, which will run at the Duke of York's Theatre from today 10th October with opening night for press on 21st October 2014.

Taylor Swift Named Key Adviser for NBC's THE VOICE Knockout Rounds

NBC's Emmy Award-winning musical-competition series 'The Voice' has confirmed seven-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift as the key adviser for the current season. Swift will serve as the sole mentor for all of the artists on each of the four teams.

Following an acclaimed run at Chichester Festival Theatre last year, the 20th Anniversary West End production previews at the Duke of York's Theatre from Friday 10th October, with an opening night for press on Tuesday 21st October 2014. Signature Theatre just released two ELMER GANTRY music videos: Elmer Gantry grows Sister Sharon's ministry into the hottest show on the road by adding the gospel voices of the Washington family, whose matriarch Mary (Nova Y. Payton, HAIRSPRAY, DREAMGIRLS) leads the choir in the praise-worthy 'On the Road', and Elmer Gantry (Charlie Pollock, Broadway's VIOLET) finds himself at a crossroads, ready to take on the next adventure, but only the Lord knows where he'll end up next - Sharon Falconer's tent revival - in 'Between Trains.' Mark Billingham's THE OTHER HALF to Play Birmingham Rep, 10 Nov

Pain, loss and violence might be the lifeblood of crime fiction but they also feature at the heart of the very best country music. And now the two come together in an original show, THE OTHER HALF, written by award-winning crime writer Mark Billingham with music by leading British Americana country duo, My Darling Clementine at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on Monday 10 November.

BWW Reviews: Albee's GOAT a Knockout at LGBT

Nothing like an idyllic family portrait (at left): father Martin (Paul Witten), mother Stevie (Ann Noble), son Billy (Spencer Morrissey) and close family friend Ross (Matt Kirkwood). They are what one might call perfect. They have everything and adore one another. Martin is a prize-winning architect, Stevie is his loyal, devoted mate, Billy, although a teenager and gay, is a good kid, who is encouraged by his parents to be who he is and to embrace it. Ross, a TV interviewer, is about to interview Martin about his recent award and turning 50, when the taping is botched by Martin's sudden inability to remember anything or to put a few words together intelligibly. He has a problem and who should he turn to but his best friend Ross. When Martin confides that he is having an 'affair' of sorts, Ross is shocked not only by the fact that Martin has always been completely faithful to Stevie, but by the new object of his affection. Martin is in love with a goat named Sylvia.

Katie Brayben to Star in West End's BEAUTIFUL - THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, February

Katie Brayben will play the title role in the West End production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musicalopening at the Aldwych Theatre in February next year. Alan Morrissey will play King's husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, with Lorna Want as song-writer Cynthia Weil, Glynis Barber as Genie Klein, King's mother, and Gary Trainor as music publisher and producer Don Kirshner. London previews beginning on 10 February 2015 and with the show currently booking to 13 June 2015. Press night will now take place on 24 February at 7pm. Final casting will be announced shortly.

West End's BEAUTIFUL Has Found Its 'Carole King'

According to the Daily Mail, the West End production of BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL has found its leading lady. Katie Brayben will star in the title role when the show moves across the pond in February 2015.

TAMAR OF THE RIVER Recording, Featuring Margo Seibert, Set for Release Next Week

YELLOW SOUND LABEL will release the world premiere recording of the acclaimed new musical TAMAR OF THE RIVER on September 23, 2014. The album is currently available for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon.com. TAMAR OF THE RIVER features music by Marisa Michelson and lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen and was directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell), with choreography by Chase Brock (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Picnic). The show was nominated for two 2014 Drama Desk Awards, including "Outstanding Actress in a Musical" for Margo Seibert, who made her Broadway debut last season as Adrian in Rocky.
