DANCING AT LUGHNASA Plays Palm Beach Dramaworks, Now thru 6/16

Winner of the Tony and Olivier Awards, Brian Friel's finely-etched memory play Dancing at Lughnasa will conclude Palm Beach Dramamworks' 2012-2013 season, with performances beginning on Friday, May 24 (8PM) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre (201 Clematis Street). The touching story of five adult sisters will play a strictly limited engagement through June 16, with specially priced preview performances slated for tonight, May 22 & 23.

Victory Gardens to Host 2013 Chicago One-Minute Play Festival, 6/17-18

Victory Gardens and the One-Minute Play Festival (OMPF) present the Third Annual Chicago One-Minute Play Festival, an evening of micro-plays by sixty of Chicago's top playwrights, directed by ten Chicago directors. OMPF benefits the Miller Match campaign and will be presented for two performances only, Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park.

North Shore Arts Angels to Host Alumni Benefit VIKING MASQUERS 50th ANNIVERSARY GALA, 6/15

The North Shore Arts Angels have announced that on Saturday evening June 15th, scores of alumni from North Shore High School will reunite to dust off their vocal chords for the 'Viking Masquers 50th Anniversary Gala,' a one night only fundraising event celebrating 50 years of musical theater on the North Shore stage. The gala, which includes an Alumni Show, a dinner with raffles and an auction, and an exhibit of a giant archive of theater memorabilia will take place at North Shore High School (450 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY) with proceeds benefiting a special fund to revive the district's now defunct Summer Theater Workshop. Casting and special guest appearances to be announced.

On the season four premiere of ABC's ROOKIE BLUE, titled 'Surprises,' Andy and Nick continue to work undercover infiltrating a meth pipeline. However their covert mission goes sideways when Nick - then Andy - go missing. Meanwhile, a random arrest at 15 Division puts Sam Swarek and the other officers in The Middle of the drug investigation-turned-rescue operation. Finally, Andy must figure out how to cope with the transformation of her own life as well as those of her friends at the station and continue to do the job she loves, on THURSDAY, MAY 23 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on ABC.

Penobscot Theatre Company Announces Upcoming Season

The 2013-2014 Season marks the 40th Anniversary for Penobscot Theatre Company, the most Northeastern year-round, professional theatre in the country. The company, which owns and operates the historic Bangor Opera House, has announced its upcoming season lineup.

Laugh with Rider University's THE MISANTHROPE; Thru March 3

Picture this: a seventeenth century comedy of manners set in 1920's France. That's what audiences are in for Rider University's Westminster College of the Arts production of the Molière classic, The Misanthrope. Although not a hit first after its publication in 1666, The Misanthrope today is Molière's best known work. The Rider production, under direction of Rider faculty Miriam Mills, is a modernized adaptation written by author Timothy Mooney.

Equatorial Guinea Donates 30K to The Goree Challenge

The Goree Challenge received support from H.E., Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the President of Equatorial Guinea. Victor Mooney, AIDS activist and transatlantic rower of Queens will soon get another chance for a fourth bid to row across the Atlantic Ocean later this year from the Canary Islands to New York. Mr. Mooney has lost one brother to AIDS and has another battling the disease. With the immediate funding, Mr. Mooney can purchase an ocean row boat that's currently in Brazil.
