On October 4, 2013, The New York Pops orchestra - famous for presenting popular programs with a symphony orchestra of the highest quality - will launch its 31st season, a Carnegie Hall series celebrating the stylistic diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons. Music Director Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra in a highly anticipated concert season including a night of jazz standards revitalized by international trumpet sensation Chris Botti; a tribute to big band legend Benny Goodman with Montego Glover and clarinetist Dave Bennett; a jolly holiday concert with stage star Ashley Brown; an intimate evening with Broadway's Golden Couple, Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley; and a season closer featuring the orchestra and some of the most beloved music written for the silver screen.
Tony nominated actress Montego Glover has been tapped to play the recurring role of ‘Marissa' in Season two of NBC's SMASH, currently filming in New York. Marissa is described as the compassionate, authoritative stage manager. Glover won a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award for Best Actress in a Musical for the Tony Award Winning MEMPHIS on Broadway and has been previously seen on The Good Wife, White Collar and Made In Jersey. She is repped by DGRW and Liebman Entertainment.

In a high-spirited finale, the cast sang, "Listen to the beat. Play it, obey it. Love it with your feet. Listen to your soul… let it make you whole." The lyrics embody three hours of soulful music, standout humor, and endearing characters that deliver a wonderful time for audiences. But the musical still fails to satisfy audiences looking to leave emotionally moved and intellectually challenged.
