Casting Announced for World Premiere of THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE at Imagination Stage, 6/20-8/12

Imagination Stage, in a collaboration with The Washington Ballet, has announced casting for its world premiere summer production, THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE. In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life-size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production WAR HORSE.

Recien salimos de la rueda de prensa que ha servido de presentacion de Ain't Misbehavin' en el Teatre Victoria de la ciudad condal. El acto ha comenzado con un espectacular pase de graficos realizado en el interior de la sala. Sobre el escenario nos esperaba Mel Howard, productor del espectaculo y cuatro de los cinco actores que forman el elenco, asi como la orquesta al completo, dirigida por, el tambien pianista del montaje, Kenney Green.

Poetic Theater Productions remounts Goliath by Takeo Rivera, recipient of the 2011 Planet Connections Award for Outstanding Overall Production of a New Play, May 23rd-June 3rd at the Wild Project (195 E 3rd St). Goliath is once again directed by Alex Mallory (2011 Planet Connections Award for Outstanding Direction) and features return ensemble members Samantha Cooper, Dontonio Demarco, Natalia Duong, Edgar Eguia and Monique Paige (2011 Planet Connections Award for Outstanding Ensemble) and newcomers Kenneth Heaton, Iliana Inocencio and Nabil Viñas. The production features lighting design by Brad Peterson, fight choreography by Jim Cairl and stage management by Sarah Livant.

Finishing Ithaca College Theatre's 2011-2012 main-stage season is William Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure.". Performances will run in the Hoerner Theatre in Dillingham Center on April 24, 26, 27, and 28 at 8 p.m. and 2pm matinee performances on April 28 and 29. Making Books Sing (MBS), the New York-based non-profit that promotes children's literacy and social development through arts-in-education programs and professional theatre productions, will present the Off-Broadway premiere of the family musical THE BUTTERFLY - with book and lyrics by Barbara Zinn Krieger and music by Charles Greenberg - with previews beginning April 14 prior to an official press opening of April 15 at Theater 3 (311 West 43rd Street) in Manhattan. Brad Malow will direct and music direction is by Tim Rosser.
