Playwright Liz Meriwether and director Shira Milikowsky host a benefit on Monday, December 19th at 7:30pm at The McKittrick Hotel's The Heath (542 West 27th Street, NYC). The evening will include performances of new work, inspired by Trump's tweet, 'The theater must always be a safe and special place.' 

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, is pleased to present the 15th annual National Showcase of New Plays (NSNP).

Celebrating 10 seasons of Roundabout Underground, Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the sixth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. The Reading Series will feature new works by Saheem Ali, Emily Feldman, Alex Lubischer, Don Nguyen, Ming Peiffer and Michael Thurber.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Asian-American Off-Broadway MA-YI THEATER COMPANY will present the World Premiere of PEER GYNT & the Norwegian Hapa Band, a new rock musical by Michi Barall, with music by Paul Lieber and Matt Park.

December at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, promises to be one of the most musically-diverse months yet. The club kicks off with two nights of the island's hottest reggae acts with Revive the Live Waikiki Edition, followed by tributes to Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington, singer-songwriter Imua Garza and a nostalgic run with Henry Kapono as he presents the Songs of C&K. Acoustic rock and reggae artist Trevor Hall, the legendary Willie K and soulful guitarist Tavana take us into the middle of the month, leading up to GRAMMY(R) Award-winning trumpeter Herb Alpert. Local favorites Streetlight Cadence and M?noaDNA are up next, with singer-songwriter-surfer Tom Curren making his Blue Note Hawaii debut as well. La Jolla Playhouse, nationally-renowned for the development of new work, announces four world-premiere productions for the 2017/2018 season, including the previously-announced Escape to Margaritaville (May/June), featuring the songs of legendary singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett and an original story by co-book writers Greg Garcia ('My Name Is Earl') and Mike O'Malley ('Survivor's Remorse,' 'Shameless'), directed by La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley (Come From Away, Memphis).

AMONG THE DEAD, a new play by Hansol Jung, will be given its world premiere by the award-winning Asian American Off-Broadway Ma-Yi Theater Company at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, NYC), with its official opening night tonight, November 10th.

A world-premiere play, Among the Dead by Hansol Jung; a world-premiere musical by Michi Barall, Paul Lieber, and Matt Park, PEER GYNT & the Norwegian Hapa Band; and the special presentation of the hit play The Wong Kids in the Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go! by Lloyd Suh in Manila comprise the season to be produced by Ma-Yi Theater Company during their 2016-2017 season, it is announced by the company's Producing Artistic Director Ralph B. Peña and Executive Director Jorge Z. Ortoll.

The laughs come fast and furiously as siblings Albert and Jennifer Chen struggle to figure out who to blame for their recent failures as adults. Due to popular demand, the Huntington Theatre Company has extended the run of its production of Tiger Style!, by Mike Lew and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, to November 20. The added performances are Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30pm; Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30pm; Thursday, November 17 at 7:30pm; Friday, November 18 at 8pm; Saturday, November 19 at 2pm and 8pm; and Sunday, November 20 at 2pm. The launch of Playwrights Welcome, a new program developed for Dramatists Guild of America members by Samuel French along with Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing, Music Theatre International, Playscripts, The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization and participating theaters, was announced today.

In conjunction with its upcoming production of Tiger Style!, the Huntington Theatre Company will host a number of special events and post-show conversations.

Back in February, BroadwayWorld reported that stage and screen star Kevin Kline would star in The Acting Company's reading presentation of Noel Coward's charming comedy PRESENT LAUGHTER. Now he's taking the show to Broadway, according to the New York Times.
