Fiddle supergroup Childsplay, a who's who of fiddlers, fiddles and fiddlemakers, has released As the Crow Flies, their sixth album in 26 years of performances throughout North America and Europe. In addition, the group has released a concert DVD Live from the Zeiterion Theatre. Both the CD and concert DVD are being released in advance of the group's upcoming Northeast tour dates.

The evening was held at the Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street) in New York City, cocktails started at 6pm and dinner started at 7pm. Jessica Hecht was the emcee of the evening; the Gala co-chairs were playwright Lydia R. Diamond and interior designer Jasmine M. Keller. The Gala honorary chairs were Anne Kaufman, Obie award-winning director; Nelle Nugent, Broadway producer; Judith O. The name change is part of a rebranding that recognizes the organization's long time proactive and focused mission: 'to perpetuate the art and craft of storytelling, either by professionals or amateurs, through education and practical experience, on local, national, and global levels.' The Initiative's programs are designed to reach various populations and help them to find their unique voice as writers.
