Review Roundup: Paper Mill Playhouse's NEWSIES!

The on stage premiere of NEWSIES opened this Sunday, September 25, at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. The musical is based on the 1899 true story of a courageous group of scrappy newsboys who become unlikely heroes when they rally forces to fight an unscrupulous newspaper tycoon. 'NEWSIES' features a book by Harvey Fierstein, lyrics by Jack Feldman and music by Alan Menken. Based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. Review Roundup: RENT Off-Broadway

The new, off-Broadway production of RENT opened Thursday, August 11 at New World Stages. The resurrection of the cult classic, written by Jonathan Larson, is being directed by Michael Greif, who directed the show's original off-Broadway and Broadway productions. The creative team includes choreographer Larry Keigwin, music supervisor Tim Weil, set designer Mark Wendland, costume designer Angela Wendt, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designer Brian Ronan, and projection designer by Peter Nigrini.

LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. 4000 Miles is the final of three productions during its 2010-2011 season. 4000 Miles features Greta Lee, Gabriel Ebert, Mary Louise Wilson and Zoe Winters, has sets by Lauren Helpern, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lighting by Japhy Weideman and sound by Ryan Rumery.

NY Drama Critics' Circle Announces Winners - THE BOOK OF MORMON, JERUSALEM, GOOD PEOPLE & More

Good People, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2010-2011 season. The award for Best Foreign Play play went to Jerusalem, written by Jez Butterworth. The Book of Mormon received the award for Best Musical. The selections were made at the 76th annual voting meeting of the organization today at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan.

Adam Feldman, president of the New York Drama Critics' Circle (NYDCC), has announced that the Circle will meet at the offices of Time Out New York magazine on Monday, May 9, to select the winners of the 76th annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards, which will be announced at approximately 7pm, immediately following the meeting.
