Investor Drops Out of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S; Producers Trying to Raise $1M

According to the New York Times, the producers of the upcoming world premiere of Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg's new play, Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, are trying to raise funds for the show after an investor dropped out last minute. The cast, currently in rehearsals, was told that the production would be 'in jeopardy' if the necesary $1 million is not quickly raised.

Complete casting has been announced for the world premiere of Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg's new play,Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, which begins preview performances on Monday, March 4, 2013 with an opening night of Wednesday, March 20, 2013.Directed by Sean Mathias, it will play the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street).

A Noise Within Presents THE GRAPES OF WRATH, Opening 2/23

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents FRANK GALATI'S adaptation of JOHN STEINBECK'S iconic THE GRAPES OF WRATH, opening Saturday, February 23 and closing Saturday, May 11, 2013 (previews begin Saturday, February 16), which brilliantly distills the quintessential American novel to its core while preserving its essence as perhaps the greatest American travel tale ever written. Directed by Michael Michetti, this timely work, filled with heartbreak and strength, features Steinbeck's words almost exclusively as well as deeply evocative music that includes period hymns, Dust Bowl songs and original music by Michael Smith written for the play's original 1988 Steppenwolf Theatre Company production, hailed by the London Daily Mail as "shatteringly perfect." The Chicago Sun-Times praised Frank Galati's adaptation as "utterly faithful to its source - that it is not only uncompromising, but devoid of sentimentality, and that it is flawless in the way it sweeps us into the lives of the characters, and their time, without a wasted word or motion." The run includes a 'Pay What You Can" date on Thursday, February 21.

Tickets for Truman Capote's BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S go on sale today via Telecharge. As previously announced, this new stage adaption of Capote's classic novella, directed by Sean Mathias, will star Emilia Clarke (HBO's 'Game of Thrones') as 'Holly Golightly,' six-time Emmy Award-nominee George Wendt ('Cheers') as 'Joe Bell' and Cory Michael Smith as 'Fred'; the show will begin performances at Broadway's Cort Theatre on Monday, March 4. Opening night is set for Wednesday, March 20.

Broadway's Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), just celebrated its 100th Anniversary yesterday, December 20th. The theatre, which opened on December 20, 1912 with a Peg O'My Heart starring Laurette Taylor, is currently home to the Broadway Premiere of Grace, which will end its limited engagement on January 6, 2013. It will next be home to the World Premiere production of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, a new play written by Richard Greenberg, which starts performances on Monday, March 4 and opens on Wednesday, March 20. Bergen County Players to Present Arthur Miller's THE PRICE, Opening 1/12

Arthur Miller's engrossing and fascinating take on family loyalty makes its Bergen County Players' (BCP) stage debut as part of the troupe's landmark 80th season. THE PRICE will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from January 12th through February 2nd. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Playwrights Horizons Announces Final Extension for THE WHALE, Through 12/15

Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced a second, final extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold-out New York premiere of THE WHALE, a new play by Obie Award winner Samuel D. Hunter (A Bright New Boise). Originally set to play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 2, the production originally extended to Sunday, December 9 and now extends to Saturday, December 15 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). This additional week represents the final extension possible for the production.

Bergen County Players to Present RAPUNZEL, Beginning 11/24

Celebrating 80 years, the Bergen County Players (BCP) will present its annual children's show, David Crane and Marta Kauffman's (creators of the hit television show Friends) tongue-in-cheek retelling of the favorite fairytale, Rapunzel. Under the direction of Jerry Hurley, Rapunzel will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from November 24th through December 16th. Shows will be on Fridays at 8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 3:30pm.
