This Week's THEATER TALK to Feature Authors James Shapiro and Carolyn Quinn, 6/20 - 6/23

This week, THEATER TALK welcomes authors with two unique takes on American culture - James Shapiro, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, whose new book is Shakespeare in America, an anthology of writing about the Bard's impact on U.S. history; and Carolyn Quinn, author of Mama Rose's Turn: The True Story of America's Most Notorious Stage Mother, whose book illuminates the life of the character central to one of America's greatest musicals, Gypsy.

THEATER TALK to Feature Joan Marcus, Tony Wrap-Up, Red Carpet Special, 6/13

This week, THEATER TALK features its annual Tony Wrap Up, an interview with legendary theater photographer Joan Marcus - honored with a special TONY this year - and an AndrewAndrew report from the TONY Red Carpet. CUNY TV to Host 7-Hour Tony Awards Marathon, June 8

On Tony Awards Sunday -- June 8 -- CUNY TV will present 7-1/2 hours of glorious Broadway interviews related to this year's nominated musicals, plays, and individuals - from 12:30 p.m. right up till Tony time (8 p.m. on CBS).

Jennifer Hudson Will Perform Song from FINDING NEVERLAND at the Tony Awards!

Earlier today, The New York Post's Michael Riedel reported that the highly anticipated new musical FINDING NEVERLAND, which tells the story of J.M. Barrie and the creation of 'Peter Pan,' has received a coveted performance slot in this Sunday's Tony Awards, to be broadcast live on CBS. Now, Jennifer Hudson has just announced via Twitter that she will sing from the new musical. She writes: 'So excited ! I'll be performing a song from the upcoming musical Finding Neverland @TheTonyAwards ! Tune in this Sun at 8/7c. #TonyAwards'

Plans for Historic BROADWAY 4D Project Are a 'No-Go'

Plans for the highly anticipated Broadway 4D have been scratched, as those behind the project were unable to raise the $80 million necessary to complete major renovations to 42nd Street's historic Times Square Theater

CUNY TV Celebrates Arthur Gelb in Rebroadcast of 1999 Interview Today

Arthur Gelb, the much beloved Managing Editor of The New York Times, a champion of theater coverage there as early as the 1950s and beyond, and co-author, with his wife Barbara, of a massive three-volume biography of American playwright Eugene O'Neill, is celebrated in the CUNY TV rebroadcast of a 1999 THEATER TALK interview, co-hosted by Michael Riedel of the New York Post and producer Susan Haskins, airing today, May 30 (2014) at 9:30am, 2:30pm, and 7:30pm. Mr. Gelb passed away on May 20.

Critics Ben Brantley, Peter Marks and Terry Teachout Set for THEATER TALK, Beg. Today

On the new THEATER TALK, Denzel Washington, star of the hit Broadway revival of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, gets together with an old friend, Woodie King, Jr., the Founder and Artistic Director of the New Federal Theatre. They look back at their first experiences seeing Hansberry's ground-breaking play, as well as their work together when Washington first appeared at the New Federal Theatre in 1981, in Laurence Holder's When Chickens Come Home to Roost.

A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER's Steven Lutvak Set for THEATER TALK this Week
