HAIRSPRAY Begins Tonight at Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley Playhouse at the historic Julia Morgan Theater continues their seventh season with Hairspray, directed by Producing Artistic Director Daren A.C. Carollo (Broadway: A Time to Kill; Off-Broadway: bare The Musical; Regional: Diablo Theatre Company, Solano College Theatre, Napa Valley Opera House, Ohlone College, Town Hall Theatre Company, DRAA's On Broadway, El Campanil Theatre, Contra Costa Civic Theatre, Missouri Street Theatre, Role Players Ensemble) and choreographed by Alyssa Bond (Diablo Theatre Company, San Francisco State University, Golden State Theatre Productions, and Alameda Civic Light Opera). Previews begin April 23. Show runs from April 25 to May 17, 2015 at the Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Ave. in Berkeley. Patti LuPone, Billy Eichner & More Set for BRIDGET EVERETT GETS F*CKED BY ARS NOVA Tonight

Ars Nova has announced the lineup for Bridget Everett Gets F*cked by Ars Nova, a one-night-only blow-out concert celebrating everyone's favorite badass b*tch, alt-cabaret priestess and Ars Nova All Star, Bridget Everett. In addition to Everett herself, the benefit concert, directed by Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Rock Bottom), will feature tributes, roasts and send-up performances from Grammy and Tony Award-winner Patti LuPone and actor, comedian and Emmy-nominee Billy Eichner. Comedians, drag queens and entertainers aplenty round out the lineup, including Jim Andralis, DJ Jonjon Battles, Justin Vivian Bond, John Early, Cole Escola, Dan Finnerty, Murray Hill, Champagne Jerry, DJ Sammy Jo, Larry Krone, Erin Markey, Molly Pope, Marc Shaiman, Sweetie, The Tender Moments (Matt Ray, Mike Jackson, Carmine Covelli and Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz), Chris Tyler, Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad (VIDS); plus a few fun surprises.

Whitney Cummings Plays Comedy Works Landmark Village This Weekend

Most recently, Cummings appeared in the summer tour Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, co-headlining with Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari, Louis C.K. and more. Her second one-hour stand-up special, Whitney Cummings: I Love You debuted on Comedy Central in June 2014. In the special, she shares brutally honest insights about love and relationships, covering everything from what real orgasms look like to her frustration at men calling women “crazy.”

Continuing its 27th Season, Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the Midwest Premiere of Title and Deed, by Will Eno and directed by Marti Lyons. World Premiere of BODY & BLOOD Set for Gift Theatre, 6/18-8/9

The Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton announces the world premiere of smart, exhilarating new play Body & Blood by Gift Co-Founder and playwright, William Nedved and directed by Marti Lyons, who previously directed Bethany last season and recently directed Thornton in Lookingglass' Title and Deed. Body & Blood features Gift ensemble members Lynda Newton (The Royal Society of Antarctica) and Gabe Franken (Thinner Than Water) with guest artists Cyd Blakewell (Griffin Theatre Company's Balm in Gilead), Stephen Spencer (Remy Bumppo's Our Class) and Nicholas Harazin (Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Macbeth).

BEAUTIFUL's Anika Larsen Brings SING YOU TO SLEEP to Birdland Tonight

ANIKA LARSEN, the 2014 Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner currently starring on Broadway in Beautiful -- The Carole King Musical, will introduce her debut solo CD Sing you to Sleep with a special concert at Birdland Jazz Club as part of the 'Broadway at Birdland' series tonight, March 23 at 7:00 PM. Birdland is located at 315 West 44th Street in Manhattan.

A University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude grad with a degree in communications and film, Whitney Cummings covers topics such as gender differences, sexism, human sexuality and relationships. In the words of someone who recently saw Whitney's stand-up show, 'Whitney is beautiful, quick-witted, and laugh-out-loud funny. Her star is rising. Catch her whenever you can. I will always go to see her whenever she's in town.'

The Gift Theatre Welcomes New Casting Director

The Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton has announced that Emjoy Gavino has joined the company as casting director. Gavino has been a casting consultant on several theater projects in the Chicago area since 2012; her most recent credits include work with Remy Bumppo, Pavement Group and Theatre on the Lake.
