Jim Henson's SID THE SCIENCE KID Plays TPAC, April 5

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, proudly presents Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid…Live!, directed by John Tartaglia and performing on Saturday, April 5 at 1:30PM. Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid…Live! is a part of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center's 2013-2014 Family Theater Season, featuring plays, musicals, puppetry, concerts and dance for all ages.

La Mirada Theatre to Present Jim Henson's SID THE SCIENCE KID LIVE!, 3/16

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts concludes its 2013-14 Programs for Young Audiences series with the exciting adventures of JIM HENSON'S SID THE SCIENCE KID LIVE! This 75-minute, wildly entertaining show is the live stage adaptation of the Emmy®-Award nominated series 'Sid the Science Kid' which airs on PBS KIDS. The show is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up. Performances are Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Carla Ching's FAST COMPANY to Play Ensemble Studio Theatre, Begin. 3/12

Carla Ching's comedy Fast Company, about a family of Asian American con artists on the trail of a million-dollar comic book, begins previews for its New York premiere at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street, Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00pm for an opening Thursday, March 20, at 7:00pm (for a run currently scheduled through April 6). Robert Ross Parker of the Obie-winning troupe Vampire Cowboys directs.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts to Present SID THE SCIENCE KID, 4/6

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (BCBC) continues its 2013-14 Target Storybook Series with Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid - Live!onSunday, April 6, 2014 at 2pm. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased by phone at 718-951-4500 (Tues-Sat, 1pm-6pm), or online at BrooklynCenterOnline.org. The performance is recommended for ages three and up.

The Jim Henson Company Launches SID THE SCIENCE KID LIVE! Tour

The Jim Henson Company, in conjunction with Mills Entertainment, Gables Grove Productions and The Brad Simon Organization, announced today that the Emmy-Award nominated series 'Sid the Science Kid' which airs on PBS KIDS has been adapted as a live stage production, SID THE SCIENCE KID LIVE! The 40-city U.S. tour launches today.

Johan Botha Withdraws from Final Lyric Opera's OTELLO Due to Injury

Johan Botha, the world-renowned South African heldentenor who has been performing the title role of Verdi's Otello at Lyric Opera of Chicago, has been forced to withdraw from his final two performances on October 29 and November 2 because of severe back pain caused by a previous injury, Lyric's general director Anthony Freud announced today. Botha has returned to Vienna for treatment.

Previews begin Thursday, October 24, for Year of the Rooster by Youngblood playwright Eric Dufault, directed by John Giampietro, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. Year of the Rooster is a comic, mythic elevation of the gritty subculture of American cockfighting by a 25-year-old playwright. It opens the Ensemble Studio Theatre's 46th season Monday, October 28, at 7:00pm .

DANCING ON NAILS' Peter Van Wagner Set for STATE OF THE ARTS Tomorrow

Peter Van Wagner, star of this summer's DANCING ON NAILS at Theatre 80, will be this week's special guest on the popular WPKN (89.5 FM) Radio program 'State of the Arts' tomorrow (Friday) between noon and 1 PM. The interview, which was recorded before the producers announced the play's recent closing, can also be heard at www.wpkn.org.

Bryna Weiss to Join DANCING ON NAILS for Final Two Shows

Film & TV veteran Bryna Weiss is joining the cast of DANCING ON NAILS, a new play by Paul Manuel Kane, for the final two performances tomorrow (Wednesday) at Theatre 80. She is replacing Lauren Klein (in the role of Luba Fogel) who had a prearranged departure after the July 24th opening to star as Linda Loman in the Denver Center Theatre Company production of Death of a Salesman, which is set to open next month.

DANCING ON NAILS to End Off-Broadway Run on 7/31

DANCING ON NAILS, a new play by Paul Manuel Kane, will end it's Off-Broadway run this Wednesday evening, July 31st at Theatre 80. Under the direction of Allen Lewis Rickman, the cast of DANCING ON NAILS features Peter Van Wagner (Isaac Ginsburg on HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire'), Lori Wilner (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK), Lauren Klein (LOST IN YONKERS, OTHER DESERT CITIES), Michael Lewis (THE YOUNG MAN FROM ATLANTA, 'Blue Bloods'), and Jazmyn Richardson ('Party at Micah's'). DANCING ON NAILS had its official opening on July 24th.

DANCING ON NAILS Announces Student Rush Policy

The producers of DANCING ON NAILS, currently in previews with the Opening Night set for this Wednesday, July 24th, have instituted a student rush policy. $20 student tickets are now available at the box office beginning 30 minutes before each performance with a valid student ID (cash only). DANCING ON NAILS is playing a strictly limited engagement through August 29th at Theatre 80, located at 80 St. Marks Place (just west of First Ave.)
