Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, opens tonight, November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street).

RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning landmark rock musical written by Jonathan Larson, will return to the road in a 20th Anniversary production that promises to be as impactful and exciting as the original.  The tour hits the State Theatre in Easton today, November 1st.

PUFFS or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic, the new Off-Broadway hit that recently opened to rave reviews, had added shows to their weekly schedule due to popular demand at The Elektra Theater (300 West 43rd Street). Starting on November 27, there will be a Sunday matinee performance at 3:00 PM.

Three–time Tony® Award–nominated director Michael Greif brought the groundbreaking musicals “Rent” and “Next to Normal” to The Great White Way, and now he's done it again with the upcoming Broadway premiere of the award–winning show “Dear Evan Hansen.” Join New York Times theater editor Scott Heller with the director and hear musical performances celebrating 20 years of his hits, featuring award–winning actors of stage and screen Ben Platt, Rachel Bay Jones, Aaron Tveit, Jennifer Damiano and Adam Chanler–Berat, accompanied by Alex Lacamoire, who won the 2016 Tony for his work on Lin–Manuel Miranda's “Hamilton.”

The Playhouse on Rodney Square will kick off the Broadway in Wilmington season with the 20th Anniversary Tour of RENT October 28-30, 2016.

Second Stage Theatre has announced complete casting for its upcoming New York premiere production of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts' play, MAN FROM NEBRASKA, directed by David Cromer.

It's hard to believe that Jonathan Larson's epic rock musical masterpiece, Rent, debuted on Broadway, making headlines around the world, winning the Pulitzer Prize and bringing a whole new generation of audiences to the theater 20 years ago. Larson who died just prior to the show's 1996 off-Broadway opening didn't live to see the acclaim with which his musical - based upon Puccini's La Boheme - was greeted, but if we believe in such things, we may rest assured that since his untimely demise he has watched over Rent's evolution, which includes the 20th Anniversary production now touring the country in an astounding revival which reaffirms its place among the very best of American musical theater.

 The producers of the RENT 20th Anniversary Tour announced today that single tickets for the upcoming tour engagement at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) will go on sale on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10A. The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour will be at PPAC April 7 - 9, 2017, with performances on Friday at 7:30P, Saturday at 2P & 8P, and Sunday at 1P.

The new Stan Zimmerman & Christian McLaughlin play, Knife to the Heart, a comedy about circumcision, will hold a private reading on October 16, 2016, at Los Angeles's Lex Theatre. The cast for the reading will include Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland), Todd Sherry (Parks & Recreation), Katie Walder (How I Met Your Mother), and Josh Zuckerman (Desperate Housewives). Michael Matthews will direct.

Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of HOLIDAY INN, THE NEW Irving Berlin MUSICAL is now extended by two weeks through January 15, 2017. Holiday Inn, The New Irving BerlinMusical opened officially last night, October 6, 2016, on Broadway at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). Today, October 3, 2016, the box office opens at the the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th St) for the Broadway premiere of the new musical Dear Evan Hansen. The show beginning previews on November 14, 2016, with an official opening night on December 4, 2016.
