Casting has been announced for the National Theatre production of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America are pleased to present the national tour of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's passionate and elegant masterpiece EVITA. The Tony Award-winning musical will play at the Arsht Center's Ziff Ballet Opera House for a limited engagement from May 27 - June 1, 2014. The critically acclaimed UK premiere of Jerry Mitchell's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will extend its run at The Savoy Theatre and is now booking until 7 March 2015. Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley will continue with their celebrated performances as Lawrence Jameson, Freddy Benson and Christine Colgate throughout this new booking period. Following its hugely successful opening in April, the cast and the Producers are thrilled to be extending the production into Spring 2015.

The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is being held this afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners will be announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Joshua McGuire - currently starring in the highly praised Privacy at the Donmar Warehouse - is confirmed to play Mozart in Amadeus, alongside Rupert Everett as his rival, Salieri. McGuire's credits also include Posh at the Royal Court and West End, the title role in Hamlet at Shakespeare's Globe and BBC 2's The Hour.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2013-14 season in 24 categories.

Award-winning playwright Ayub Khan Din's first play, East is East, which premiered at the Royal Court and was later turned into a much-loved feature film, returns to the London stage after 17 years. This hilarious and ever-pertinent modern classic about growing up in multiracial England will star the multi award-winning stage and screen actress Jane Horrocks (Young Vic's Annie Get Your Gun,Sunshine on Leith, The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, Absolutely Fabulous) as Ella Khan, one of the greatest female roles written for modern theatre.

Gina McKee (Di & Viv & Rose, King Lear, Ivanov, Our Friends In The North, Notting Hill) will play Queen Elizabeth, alongside the previously announced Martin Freeman (Clybourne Park, The Hobbit, Sherlock, Fargo) as Richard III in Jamie Lloyd's first production of his second season at Trafalgar Transformed, Richard III, running from 1 July to 27 September, with press night on 8 July.

EVITA began as a rock opera concept album. The success of the album led to the 1978 production on London's West End and the 1979 production on Broadway. With a slew of regional productions, revivals, and tours, EVITA continues to capture the hearts of audiences, and the U.S. National Tour of the 2012 Broadway Revival production is a prime example of why.

Last week, while the U.S. National Tour of the Broadway Revival of EVITA was in San Antonio, I got the chance to chat with Sean MacLaughlin, who is playing Colonel Juan Peron, about the show and his career. Houston audiences will recognize him from last season's production of CAMELOT, produced by Theatre Under the Stars, where he played Lancelot.
