The Brick Theater Presents Steven Rattazzi in KING KIRBY, Now thru 6/29

Steven Rattazzi steps into the role of legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby in King Kirby, a play by the husband-and-wife team of NYIT-award winning playwright Crystal Skillman and New York Times bestselling comics writer Fred Van Lente at the Comic Book Theater Festival at The Brick this June.

Brick Theater Presents THE COMIC BOOK THEATER FESTIVAL ISSUE #2, Now thru 6/29

Comics are sometimes called 'sequential art' - stories that unfold across time over the course of multiple images. This definition also applies to the art of theater - and with so much in common, it makes sense that the two should team up. After a successful first installment in 2011, the Comic Book Theater Festival is coming back to The Brick for 'Issue #2' in June 2014. Get ready for a new crop of shows that explore the intersection of the panel and the stage, the live and the drawn, the ink and the actor.

The Brick and Glasswork Productions Present Valerie Work's THE PARTY PLAY, Now thru 5/31

Paul and Carl, two twentysomething roommates, hold a party to bid farewell to each other and their shared apartment. The year has been kind to Paul, who is moving into his own place; less so to Carl, who is moving back upstate with his parents. Then there is Tamar, facing her first party as a divorced, newly single woman. Awkwardness ensues, along with party hijinks including alien spaceman sounds, airborne paper plates and a special Guest DJ Hour. Through alternating humor and pathos, The Party Play explores the impact the recession has had on the attitudes, ambitions and relationships of young urban adults.

The Dirty Blondes announce HALLOWED GROUND, a textual, collage-based theater piece sculpting familiar and unfamiliar literature to create a one-night performance examining the balance between the search for wealth and the search for inner peace.

Applications Now Open for The Brick's Comic Book Theater Festival

After a successful first installment in 2011, the Comic Book Theater Festival is coming back to The Brick for 'Issue #2' in June 2014. Get ready for a new crop of shows that explore the intersection of the panel and the stage, the live and the drawn, the ink and the actor. The call for submissions will be open until January 15 - both long-form and short-form pieces will be considered. Artists who are interested in helping add a new dimension to comics, theater or both should visit www.bricktheater.com/comics to apply or email comics@bricktheater.com for more information.

NY Clown Theatre Presents AMUSE BOUCHE 2013 at The Brick, Now thru 9/28
