Kinesis Project dance theatre, hosted by The Rockaway Artist Alliance and National Parks Service, presents a performance experience along the beach of Fort Tilden on September 18, 2016 and October 16, 2016 at 1pm and 4:30pm. Audiences will meet at Rockaway Artist Alliance Gallery to be brought to the performance, and should wear clothes for a fall day at the beach and shoes for walking. After the performance, audiences are welcome back to enjoy the art opening at the Rockaways Artist Alliance.

The Chicago Premiere of Ryan Scott Oliver's 35MM: A Musical Exhibition with CIRCLE THEATRE begins rehearsals this month. On January 21, guests gathered at Drury Lane Theatre for the Opening Night of their newest production, Bye Bye Birdie, directed and choreographed by Tammy Mader. With a cast led by Michelle Aravena as Rosie, Matt Crowle as Conrad's agent, Albert, and Jason Michael Evans as Conrad Birdie, audiences were treated to a throwback of the classic 1950's musical, brought to life again by this energetic and lively ensemble of 31. Collider Theater presents the world premiere production of LOVE, SEX AND DEATH IN THE AMAZON opening tonight, October 10 at The Paradise Factory at 64E4 in the East Village.

Collider Theater announced today the complete cast of its world premiere production of LOVE, SEX AND DEATH IN THE AMAZON opening Saturday, October 10 at The Paradise Factory at 64E4 in the East Village.

Men under the age of 25 are hardly the demographic for attending Broadway musicals, let alone writing one, but Nick Blaemire and James Gardiner did just that when their musical Glory Days ran on Broadway in May 2008. The Broadway production followed a World Premiere at the prestigious Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia in January of that year.

Talking Band, the seminal downtown New York City theater collective, continue their 40th anniversary celebration with a gala evening that will bring together many of the countless artists with whom they have collaborated since Paul Zimet, Ellen Maddow and Tina Shepard founded the company in 1974. The event will take place Monday, April 27 at the Ukrainian National Home Ballroom (140 Second Ave, between St. Mark's Place and East 9th Street) in the East Village. Proceeds will support the Talking Band's artistic programs.

Woodie King's National Black Touring Circuit's 2015 Black History Month Play Series will feature "Adam," the story of legendary Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, and a reading of Ossie Davis' seminal play "The People of Clarendon County" from February 8 - 22 in Harlem, Queens and the Bronx. It's produced in conjunction with Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre Group. Tickets are $20. For more information call 212-353-1176.

One of New York's brightest new musicals written by members of the Millennial Generation will finally be seen in Chicago when the newly formed Refuge Theatre Project, a company dedicated to presenting ensemble pieces of new American musical writers, opens Next Thing You Know at The Den Theater in February. While musicals by millennials have received commercial productions in New York City, they've been largely unseen in Chicago. Though the area's vibrant theatre community is adventurous in producing new plays, when it comes to musicals local commercial producers and non-profit companies alike have mostly steered toward classics and shows written before the year 2000.

Since its founding in 1974 by Paul Zimet, Ellen Maddow, and Tina Shepard-all former members of Joseph Chaikin's seminal Open Theater- Talking Band has remained a cornerstone of New York City's avant-garde theater community. Ben Brantley of The New York Times recently called them 'one of the boldest and most venerable politically minded companies in New York experimental theater.' American Theater magazine has deemed them 'one of the most exceptional theater companies in the country.' The Talking Band celebrates their 40th anniversary with The Golden Toad, a four-part epic whose world premiere La MaMa presents January 23 - February 8, 2015.
