Fun Home, the Award-winning new musical that began previews on Broadway on March 27, announced today that the updated and expanded Broadway version of the cast recording has reached #1 on the Billboard Cast Album Chart. The album, produced by PS Classics, now features Emily Skeggs, who took over the role of Medium Alison during the show's original Off-Broadway run and is re-creating the role on Broadway, and includes new material written for the Broadway production, as well as additional material not included on the original recording. With music by five-time Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, a book and lyrics by three-time Tony Award nominee Lisa Kron and direction by Tony Award nominee Sam Gold, Fun Home began previews March 27, 2015 and opened to rave reviews at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) on Sunday, April 19, 2015.

The 71st presentation of the awards - and, yes, it is older than the Tony Awards and the Drama Desk Awards - was marked by a sensational ceremony at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway, home of the rapturously received revival of ON THE TOWN, and I was lucky enough to get a fly-on-the-wall view of not only the big awards show itself, but the rehearsal, as well - and chat with some of the starry attendees and winners, as well. Here are some of the standout moments in an unforgettable evening.

The Tony Awards today announced that more than 175 performers will join Josh Groban on-stage for a special performance - the most performers in a single number in Tony Awards history - at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night for the 69th Annual Tony Awards. The 2015 Tony Awards will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 7th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay) and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The beloved Broadway tradition continued yesterday as Sardi's (234 West 44th Street) added a caricature of four-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn to its walls, with an unveiling celebration hosted by Tony Award-winner and Fun Home co-star, Michael Cerveris. BroadwayWorld was there for the special day and you can check out photos below!
