Williamson ('Nashville,' 'Homeland') will star in Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride, the first production of MCC's 2015-16 Main Stage Season.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that Golden Globe winner and six-time Emmy nominee Michael C. Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, 'Dexter') will lead the cast of LAZARUS, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (ONCE, Tony Award), inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, and directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards).  LAZARUS begins previews on November 18, with an opening night set for December 7, 2015.

New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 31st Powerhouse Season, have announced the first round of casting for their summer collaboration, which runs June 26 - August 2 at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie.

More than 400 alumni, donors and supporters gathered at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall last week for the 2015 NYU Tisch School of the Arts Gala, honoring Michael C. Hall, Steven Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, with a special tribute to Mel Silverman. The evening was a celebration of the dreams of NYU Tisch students, both past and present, and featured performances by current students and alumni of NYU Tisch and the cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder. The event was hosted by Anna Deavere Smithand included presenters Peter Krause, Winnie Holzman and Tyne Daly. Also in attendance were Ewan McGregor,Lauren Graham and Morgan Macgregor. Over $1.1 millionwas raised to support the education of talented young artists from around the world.

Freedman, with a special tribute to Mel Silverman, was held last night, May 4, at the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. The gala performance, directed by Bill Castellino, celebrated the incredible accomplishments of Tisch students, both past and present. The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced that John Cameron Mitchell will receive the 2015 Special Tony Award. "John's return to 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' is one for the history books. He not only wrote and co-created the role with Stephen Trask - before directing and starring in the film - but returned to Broadway to star as Hedwig this season after a series of rave performances by Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells and Michael C. Hall. This is a remarkable undertaking, and we are honored to recognize his outstanding success with this honor," Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing, and Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League, said. John Cameron Mitchell's New York stage appearances included Broadway's Big River, and the original casts of The Secret Garden (Drama Desk nomination) and Six Degrees of Separation. Off-Broadway: Larry Kramer's The Destiny of Me (Obie Award and Drama Desk nom.) and Michael John LaChiusa's Hello Again (Drama Desk nom.). He adapted and directed Tennessee Williams' Kingdom of Earth starring Cynthia Nixon and Peter Sarsgaard and starred in and wrote the book for the 1998 Off-Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (directed by Peter Askin) for which he won an Obie Award along with co-creator/songwriter Stephen Trask. The film adaptation (2001) won him Best Director at Sundance and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. He directed Shortbus (2006) and Rabbit Hole (2011) adapted from David Lindsay-Abaire's Pulitzer Prize-winning play and starring Nicole Kidman in an Oscar-nominated performance. He recently appeared in HBO's Girls and is preparing to direct a film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's punk-era story How to Talk to Girls at Parties starring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman. Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker will announce the 2015 Tony Award Nominations LIVE on Tuesday, April 28th from the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe in New York City.
