Moore created a new paradigm for female leads in television, won top honors for her courageous performances in film, television and on stage, produced some of the most lauded television programs of all time, and for thirty years, has served as a tireless advocate giving hope to all those afflicted with Type 1 diabetes.

PBS will commemorate the tenth anniversary of September 11th with a special series of new and encore programs leading up to and continuing beyond Sunday, September 11. Programs in news and public affairs, science, and the performing arts are planned as part of the remembrance. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. on September 11, the entire PBS schedule will be devoted to special programming.

LA Master Chorale Appoints Associate Conductor

Lesley Leighton, an established choral conductor and long-time singer with the Los Angeles Master Chorale who was appointed assistant conductor of the chorus a year ago, has been promoted to the newly-created post of Associate Conductor of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC) it was announced by LAMC Chair Mark Foster. Her three-year term begins July 2011 and continues through the 2013-14 Season.

Now in its 7th year, National Dance Week-NYC (NDW-NYC), a yearly festival that advocates dance conditioning and wellness, will offer more than 100 FREE dance, fitness and wellness classes over the course of 10 days, starting June 17, 2011. The festival will commence with a flash mob in Union Square followed by a kickoff event at Union Bar on Wednesday, June 15. A culminating performance to celebrate NYC arts will take place at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance on Sunday, June 26 and will feature presentations by American Tap Dance Foundation: Tap City Youth Ensemble, Aveia, Ballet Noir, Billy Elliot the Musical, COBU, Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn, Flamenco con Magdalena, The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, and Marie-Christine Giordano Dance.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg joined the ranks of the many comedians who have spoofed SPIDER-MAN in recent months. Bloomberg's spoofed the troubled SPIDER-MAN musical at Saturday night's Inner Circle charity dinner, where the city's political reporters roast public officials. The major swooped over the stage attached to a harness and then, got stuck.
