Exciting, passionate and historical. That's how Michael Balderrama, resident director and choreographer of In The Heights, has described the cast for the Second National Tour of the musical, who started rehearsals in New York last month. A brand new cast has been gathered to bring the award-winning show across the States. 'All of them are fresh, from top to bottom, there's no one who has been on the show before,' Balderrama explains. 'They're young, passionate and excited about being part of ‘In The Heights'. All of them are people who are just inspired by the show'

Michael Balderrama has danced beside some of the biggest names in the music industry--Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Gloria Estefan, to name a few. He came to New York in 1999 to star in Saturday Night Fever, and has since taken on roles in many other Broadway musicals, including Movin' Out, Urban Cowboy, Hot Feet, and most recently, In The Heights, for which he won the 2007 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. Next up, Balderrama will join the cast of the new LCT3 show When I Come To Die, where he will play prison guard Cooper. Previews begin January 31st, with opening night set for February 10th.

Broadwayworld.com as confirmed that Jordin Sparks is expected to return to Broadway's IN THE HEIGHTS on September 2. As reported previously, Sparks suffered a hip injury during Act 1 of the August 28 performance and has been sitting out since.
The star posted on Twitter last night after being injured in the show that 'Got my 1st broadway injury tonight. Hurt my hip in the first act. But I finished the show! Thank you so much to everyone who came tonight. Sorry I couldn't sign. :( It's hard to stand/walk.
