On June 25th at the glamorous 583 Park Avenue in New York City, the Recording Academy celebrated 2013 honorees Ashford & Simpson, GRAMMY-winning violinist Joshua Bell, GRAMMY-winning artist Melissa Etheridge, GRAMMY-winning creators of 'LES MISERABLES' - Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzmer and Claude-Michel Schonberg - and R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz. The Recording Academy Honors 2013 celebrated honorees Ashford & Simpson, GRAMMY-winning violinist Joshua Bell, GRAMMY-winning artist Melissa Etheridge, GRAMMY-winning creators of 'LES MISERABLES' - Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzmer and Claude-Michel Schonberg - and R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz. The Recording Academy Honors was established to celebrate outstanding individuals whose work embodies excellence and integrity and who have improved the environment for the creative community. Songwriters/performing artists Ashford & Simpson, GRAMMY-winning violinist Joshua Bell, GRAMMY-winning artist Melissa Etheridge, GRAMMY-winning creators of 'LES MISERABLES' - Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzmer and Claude-Michel Schonberg - and R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz are recipients of the New York Chapter Recording Academy Honors 2013. The event, which will attract recording artists, key entertainment executives and community leaders, will be hosted tonight, June 25, 2013, at 6 p.m. at 583 Park Avenue. This gala will support the Chapter's ongoing advocacy, education and professional development programs.

The Recording Academy - New York Chapter is set to pay tribute to Valerie Simpson of the songwriting/performing duo Ashford & Simpson, GRAMMY-winning violinist Joshua Bell, GRAMMY-winning recording artist Melissa Etheridge, GRAMMY-winning creators of 'Les Miserables' - Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzmer and Claude-Michel Schonberg - and multi-platinum R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz on June 25.

Main Street Theater is closing their excellent 38th season with the wildly entertaining, often hilarious, and deeply moving CLOSE UP SPACE by Molly Smith Metzler. The zany dramadey is a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Finalist and had its world premiere in 2011 in a Manhattan Theatre Club staging at New York City Center Stage I. This premiere production received mixed reviews that all seemed to get too caught up on the idea that the premise isn't entirely original.

Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has announced that singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge will perform at the 38th Annual Gracie Awards Gala tonight, May 21, 2013, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Etheridge will also accept her Gracie Award for Outstanding Talk Show - Entertainment/Information for The Melissa Etheridge Radio Show.

Ravinia kicks off the summer with Customer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, May 18, a day filled with discounts and the chance to purchase limited added Pavilion side seating to sold-out concerts, as well as promotions and samples from Ravinia's supporters and sponsored advertisers. This is the first day that Ravinia's Box Office is officially open for walk-up sales, and all in-person purchases will be discounted by 20 percent (discounts are not available for the July 27 Gala Benefit Evening), making reserved seats for some shows as low as $8. The $7 service fee for ticket orders will also be waived for in-person purchases today, May 18. Gates open at 8 a.m. but the Ravinia Box Office opens at 9 a.m.
