Chita Rivera is a living Broadway legend and a two-time Tony winner who originated the roles of Anita in 'West Side Story', 'Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie,' Velma in 'Chicago,' and appeared in the original casts of 'Guys and Dolls,' 'Can Can,' 'Jerry's Girls' and many others.

On Monday, May 8 the Theater People podcast welcomes Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert. Ebert is currently starring alongside Harvey Fierstein in the critically acclaimed gay history play Gently Down the Stream which was written by Martin Sherrman (BENT, THE BOY FROM OZ). Gently Down the Stream plays at the Martinson Theater at The Public Theater through May 21st.

Jack Abrams may live in Los Angeles, but he's making quite an impression on the Broadway community. The young artist had been filling his Twitter page with photos of figures made from Legos honoring Tony nominated shows. Last weekend, in the intimate San Francisco Playhouse, about 100 students had the privilege of attending a Master Class put on by the Young Actors' Theatre Camp (YATC). The featured artist was Rory O'Malley, who is currently in San Francisco playing King George III in the national tour of Hamilton.

By now, the idea has morphed into a pop-culture game lampooning (or honoring) one of our most prolific actors, but when John Guare's play, Six Degrees of Separation, debuted on Broadway in 1990, the idea that everyone on the planet was connected through a web of just six other people was a hard to imagine. So, to celebrate the 27-year history of Guare's play, we are going to attempt to connect the stars who originated the main roles on Broadway to the actors that assumed them for the revival, using only Broadway credits; hopefully we can get there in just six 'degrees.'

Turning children's books into Broadway musicals has become very popular over the last few years. There is just something about seeing your favorite book from childhood coming to life on stage that just brings a little bit of magic back into the lives of audiences.

Cleveland native Jim Brickman is a worldwide sensation with his soulful piano playing.  His simplistic song style has won the hearts of many, and has kept his music on the top of the charts across the country and the world.  In May, he will be coming back to Canton to join the CSO for one special night for their Benefit Concert.  The concert begins with the generosity of the CSO musicians, who are donating their services for the rehearsal and performance.  Concert proceeds will support the Canton Symphony Orchestra Endowment - ensuring the future of Stark County's flagship arts organization.
