On Friday, May 3rd at 12 noon, Brave New World Enterprises, LLC will present a Special Pre-Broadway Workshop Table Reading of the new musical based on Aldous Huxley's novel, BRAVE NEW WORLD. The presentation, directed by SHERYL KALLER, with musical direction by JOHN McDANIEL, will take place at the Snapple Theatre Center (1627 Broadway) for invited industry audiences only.

Today in 2003, the first Broadway revival of Nine opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, where it ran for 283 performances. Nine is a musical with a book by Arthur Kopit, music and lyrics by Maury Yeston. The story is based on Federico Fellini's semi-autobiographical film 8½. It focuses on film director Guido Contini, who is dreading his imminent 40th birthday and is facing a midlife crisis, which is blocking his creative impulses and entangling him in a web of romantic difficulties in early-1960s Venice. The original Broadway production opened in 1982 and ran for 729 performances, starring Raul Julia. The musical won five Tony Awards, including best musical, and has enjoyed a number of revivals.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today three musicals to be developed at the 2013 National Music Theater Conference.

Tony Nominee Meg Bussert (Camelot, Brigadoon, The Music Man), Leenya Rideout (Company, War Horse, Cyrano de Bergerac), and Drama Desk nominee Jeremy Morse (Bloodsong of Love) are among the artists set to perform in Two Legit to Quit: a Riff- Free Evening May 14th at the Laurie Beechman.

The New Voices Collective will present NEW VOICES, NEW BLUE: A Celebration of Songs by Yale Musical Theatre Writers, Past and Present on Monday, April 15, at 8:00 p.m. The concert will explore work by some of Yale's most exciting and famous alumni, as well as current composers in the Shen Musical Theatre writing program at Yale University. An amazing cast of Broadway's finest voices will include Drew Gehling (Jersey Boys, On a Clear Day..., The Minister's Wife), Jenny Powers (Its A Bird...Its a Plane...Its Superman, Donnybrook, Grease, Little Women), Sally Wilfert (Assassins, Make Me A Song, See Rock City), and Michael Winther (Laramie Project Cycle, 33 Variations, Mamma Mia, Songs From An Unmade Bed) and J. Circle Theatre presents the Chicago premiere of DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, directed by Elizabeth Margolius. A romantic love story, written by a trio of musical theatre greats, Death Takes a Holiday will transport audiences to the post-war Italian countryside. The show feaures music & lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone and Thomas Meehan.

The winners of the 2013 Richard Rodgers Awards for Musical Theater were announced today by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, which administers the Rodgers Awards. The winning musicals are: Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 by Dave Malloy, and The Kid Who Would Be Pope by Tom and Jack Megan. Both shows were awarded studio productions.

Lea Salogna, Ramin Karimloo, Yu Shirota and Sierra Boggess will lead 4 Stars: One World of Broadway Musicals in Tokyo and Osaka this June. Daniel Kutner will direct and Jason Robert Brown will be the musical director and supervisor. The scenic design will be by Yukio Horio, lighting design by Toshiyuki Kasahara, costume design by Nobuko Miyamoto and sound design by Koichi Yamamoto.
