Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for its holiday musical, Elf. Based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, Elf has a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Elf will be directed by Eric Ankrim and choreographed by Josh Rhodes.
The 2014-15 Broadway on Center Series, presented at Mesa Arts Center in partnership with WestCoast Entertainment, brings National Touring Broadway production Elf the Musical, a hilarious Christmas favorite based on the 2003 New Line Cinema movie hit, to Mesa arts Center for performances on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Mesa Arts Center Box Office, mesaartscenter.com or by calling 480-644-6500.
The Washington Pavilion will bring the Broadway musical ELF to Sioux Falls, SD. Tickets are available now for performances at 7:30 p.m. on November 11 & 12.
NBC is bringing in the holiday spirit with the stop-motion hourlong animated special “Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas,” set to air Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. Based on the popular film “Elf” and the hit Broadway show “Elf: The Musical,” the special will star four-time Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”) as Buddy.

Broadway Bares: Rock Hard!, a luscious, modern-day mix tape of sensual sights and sounds featuring 170 of New York's sexiest dancers, celebrated its move to a new home on June 22 by raising $1,386,105 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The opening number found Matthew Saldivar and Joey Taranto as dads escorting their preteen daughters to a One Direction concert. Longing for the rock concerts of their youth, the pair stepped into a dream world of hard rockers with ripped abs, voluptuous divas and randy roadies. The opening was written by Matthew Sklar and Amanda Green. Director Nick Kenkel, Paula Caselton and Sidney Erik Wright choreographed the number.

Symphony Space's annual Spring Festival has become one of the season's most keenly awaited events. This year's installment, Sleeping Around: The Cultural Lives of New York's Hotels, may be the most provocative yet. Running from April 26 to May 21, the monthlong festival celebrates New York's landmark hotels, their occupants, and the lengendary boites that nurtured and sustained the evergreen songs and performers of cabaret. Sleeping Around also credits New York's hotels as incubators for film, classical music, and literature, with programs devoted to Andy Warhol, Virgil Thomson, and Dorothy Parker.

The evening will honor Sheldon Harnick, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist behind the iconic musical. Symphony Space's Gala is co-chaired by Lenore Davis and Amy Wilson.
