The Stratford Shakespeare Festival's hit production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, directed by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Des McAnuff, will open on Broadway on March 22, 2012. Previews begin March 1, 2012 at the Neil Simon Theatre. The cast will feature Paul Nolan as Jesus Christ, Josh Young as Judas Iscariot, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene, Tom Hewitt as Pontius Pilate, Bruce Dow as King Herod, Marcus Nance as Caiaphas and Aaron Walpole as Annas. With Broadway casting details still not announced, Brent Carver has bowed out of the La Jolla run of Stratford's Jesus Christ Superstar and will be replaced by Jeremy Kushnier. Full casting details were announced today, but Carver could not be reached for comment.

A humorous retelling of the biblical story of Joseph of Canaan. Center stage will be awash with a rainbow of colors in this rollicking musical, complete with an amazing light show, buoyant choreography, splashy costumes, and musical stylings that appeal to all tastes-from Marleyesque reggae to spur-slapping country western to an Elvis-channeling pharaoh. Preschoolers to their great-grandparents will delight in this entertaining extravaganza.
