Over two weekends in December, the Elements Theatre Company in Orleans employed a panoply of sensory stimuli in a Readers' Theatre form of John Mortimer's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL. With vivacity unexpected in a staged reading, Director Sr. Danielle Dwyer and her talented ensemble brought the ghost story to life in the sanctuary of the Church of the Transfiguration, proving that the tale of one man's redemption resonates and endures.

Playwrights Theatre is currently accepting submissions for the 31st Annual New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest and Festival. Plays are accepted in the following divisions: Elementary (grades 4-6), Junior High (grades 7-9), High School (grades 10-12). Elementary and Junior High School entries must be received no later than 11:59pm on January 14, 2013.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Education and Community Engagement department presents the 2013 Craftsman's Guild of Pittsburgh Holiday Artist Market November 15, 2013–January 5, 2014, at 709 Penn Gallery in the Cultural District. An opening reception will be held at the gallery November 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 1, Clubbed Thumb celebrated its upcoming 16th annual festival of new plays, SUMMERWORKS 2011, at HERE Arts Center (145 6th Avenue) with EXQUISITE CORPSE, a special evening of short plays by Mary Hamilton, Nick Jones, Jon Kern, Michael Mitnick, Megan Mostyn-Brown, Kim Rosenstock and Susan Soon He Stanton.

English playwright David Hare has selected blu by Virginia Grise as the 2010 winner of the annual Yale Drama Series competition. The runners-up are Siona MacDuff by Mary Hamilton and Nineteen Kinds of Peril by Tom Lavignino.
