Adam Green & Sam Fermin to Play NYU Skirball as Part of Big Red Chair Series, 3/29

NYU Skirball Center has announced the second Big Red Chair Kidrockers concert on Saturday, March 29. The concert will feature New York icon Adam Green (The Moldy Peaches) and indie darlings San Fermin. Comedians Seth Herzog ('Late Night with Jimmy Fallon') and Craig Baldo ('Last Comic Standing') host the event.

Columbia Stages to Present THE SEVEN, 2/12-15

Columbia Stages will present THE SEVEN by Will Power, directed by Carl Cofield. A third-year MFA Director at Columbia University School of the Arts, Cofield has selected this unique and challenging piece to serve as his introduction to the professional New York City theatre community. THE SEVEN will be presented in The Connelly Theater at 220 East 4th Street for five performances only,February 12 - 15, 2014.

BWW Reviews: Ask Someone to Lend You a Ticket to LEND ME A TENOR

In her curtain speech on opening night of Lend Me a Tenor, now playing at the Georgetown Palace, Artistic Director Mary Ellen Butler called playwright a Ken Ludwig a "comedic genius," and explained why she encouraged director Lannie Hilboldt to tackle the play. Hilboldt, a professional musician, has served as Musical Director on several productions and made his directorial debut with Georgetown Palace's recent production of Always, Patsy Cline. Until now, Hilboldt had not directed a play, but Butler urged him to direct Lend Me a Tenor because his musical ability would serve him well in finding the timing and rhythm of Ludwig's farce. "Music is math," Butler said to the opening night audience, "and comedy is math."

Nominations Announced for 38th Annual Carbonell Awards; Maltz Jupiter Theatre Leads With 19 Nominations

A musical about the struggles of a bipolar woman and the plight of two prisoners in a concentration camp during the Holocaust received the most nominations in the musical and play categories when the nominations were announced for the 38th Carbonell Awards, which honors excellence in theatre in South Florida.

Kidrockers to Welcome Macaulay Culkin's The Pizza Underground and Caveman, 2/8

NYU Skirball Center is proud to partner with Kidrockers to present a series of authentic rock shows for families as part of the Big Red Chair series. One of New York's fastest rising bands, Caveman, with recently formed pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute band, The Pizza Underground (Macaulay Culkin + friends) will begin the series on Saturday, February 8. Comedians Seth Herzog ("Late Night with Jimmy Fallon") and Craig Baldo ("Last Comic Standing") host the event at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, corner of LaGuardia Place and Washington Square South at the base of NYU's Kimmel Center for University Life).

On Grace & Politics: Anna Deavere Smith & Toni Preckwinkle in Conversation Set for Logan Center for the Arts, 1/13

The University of Chicago and the Harris Theater for Music and Dance will present next month On Grace, a work-in-progress staged performance conceived and created by renowned actress/playwright Anna Deavere Smith in collaboration with cellist Joshua Roman. Leonard Foglia will direct the performance on Jan. 21, 2014. The event is the culmination of Smith's 2014 Presidential Arts Fellowship at UChicago and the first formal collaborative arts partnership between UChicago and Harris Theater.

Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre to Open 20th Anniversary Season with THE SOUND OF MUSIC

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will be kicking off its 20th Anniversary Platinum Season on January 17th when the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, The Sound of Music, returns to the theatre. Playwright Franz Xaver (F.X.) Kroetz is infrequently presented in Chicago, despite being Germany's most-produced living playwright during the 1980s and 90s. Before the clones attacked, before the Na'vi Hometree was destroyed, before Buzz Lightyear went to infinity and beyond, avant-garde film and video pioneers were expanding the bounds of the moving image by harnessing computer technology to create radical new ways of seeing. Museum of the Moving Image will present a weekend program devoted to exploring early works of computer animation, organized by guest curators Leo Goldsmith and Gregory Zinman. This series of screenings and conversations, Computer Age: Early Computer Movies, 1952-1987, will take place today, November 15 through 17, 2013. Screenings include avant-garde works ranging from oscilloscope experiments to computer-assisted psychedelia; formative digital advertising and music videos; as well as feature films that incorporated these techniques into the mainstream.

She has published eighteen books, received numerous awards, and exhibited her work in solo exhibitions in galleries and museums worldwide. The program is presented in collaboration with the DC chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers, FotoDC, and Washington CityPaper.
