Cherry Lane Makes Administration Agreement With DreamWorks Theatricals For SHREK

Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company, Inc. who represents Broadway writers including Maury Yeston, Leslie Bricusse and Jason Howland, has announced a multi-year, worldwide administration agreement for the score from Shrek The Musical, the first theatrical production from DreamWorks Theatricals. Based on William Steig's classic book and the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure. Cherry Lane has been music administrator for DreamWorks Animation since 1997.

Industry circles have buzzed that actress Evan Rachel Wood has been set for the role of 'Mary Jane' in the upcoming 'SPIDER-MAN:Turn Off The Dark' musical, but the young actress and star of the new Woody Allen release, 'Whatever Works' and the recent Oscar nominated The Wrestler revealed to MTV News that all is not set in 'comic book' stone.

Directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with 22-time Grammy Award-winning Bono and The Edge creating new music and lyrics, SPIDER-MAN will be written by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. Well 'True Believers', since that official statement, the 'webslinging' work has heated up, and the creative process is in full 'swing' (forgive us the pun, but c'mon...).
